ONE LIFE TO LIVE RECAP FOR TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2001

<<< BACK TO RECAPS  INDEX

Max/Gabrielle/Al:  The Sins of the Mother and the Father!!

Al arrives at Asa’s lodge furious to see Max and Gabrielle passionately kissing.  Al wrongly assumes Max is forcing himself on Gabrielle.  Al questions both of them about what he just witnessed.  Max lies and tells Al that he tricked Gabrielle into going to the lodge.  Al doesn’t buy it.  Gabrielle then tries to explain what Al saw was a mistake.  Al still is shocked and accuses Gabrielle and Max of planning the meeting behind his and Asa’s back.  Al gets combative with Max as he gets more and more angry, accusing Max of hurting his Mom once again.  Gabrielle tries to comfort her son.  Al recalls all the things Max has done to both Al and Gabrielle in the past.  Al is in disbelief that Gabrielle would even give Max the time of day.  Gabrielle desperately tries to get Al to leave town with her.  Al still insists Gabrielle is lying about her feelings for Max.  Al comes to the conclusion that Gabrielle wants Max back.  Max, however, gets tough with Al when he keeps telling Max that Asa is his father, not Max.

An extremely angry Al leaves the lodge on his motorcycle.  Gabrielle is horrified as Al takes off.  Gabrielle and Max argue about what has just transpired.  Gabrielle accuses Max of trying to destroy his own son.

As Al is speeding down the road on his motorcycle, he has flashbacks of the encounter he just had with Max and Gabrielle at the lodge and all that is heard are tires squealing as he apparently crashes.

Sam/Ben:  Brother Helping Brother!!

At the Palace Hotel, Ben acts again as mental patient “Dave” as he meets for lunch with Sam.  Sam thinks Ben is joking around as Ben introduces Sam to the childlike “Dave”.  Since Ben needs a relative to help him, he asks Sam to commit him to St. Ann’s to keep tabs on Allison.  At first Sam vehemently refuses.  Ben then states his case to Sam as to why he needs to infiltrate St. Ann’s using the information Asa gave Ben about how dangerous Allison really was and probably still is.  Ben begs for Sam’s help.  Ben is terrified Allison will go after Viki again.  Sam finally calls a doctor he knows to get Ben (“Dave”) committed to St. Ann’s.

Allison/Rae/Ben (Dave):  The Wheels are Turning!!

Allison is seen looking through a scrapbook, with clippings about Viki, in her room at St. Ann’s.  The scrapbook begins with newspaper clippings about the kidnapping of Jessica through to the present day news about Viki.  Rae arrives to talk with Allison about her being released from St. Ann’s, but questions her as to what is behind her back.  When a Sister distracts Rae, Allison quickly switches the scrapbook with a religious book.  Allison shows that book to Rae.  Rae disappoints Allison, however, by telling her that her release from St. Ann’s may take a while.  Rae explains that the Hospital Board will be the ones to make the decision to allow her to leave.  Rae tells Allison that she will intervene on her behalf with the Hospital Board, but makes no promises as to the outcome.  Rae leaves Allison alone.  Allison then goes back to her Viki scrapbook.  “Dave” comes to Allison’s room to see her and presents Allison with a signed version of Viki’s book.  “Dave” told Allison he got it at a book signing.  Allison tells “Dave” that Viki will be the one to get Allison out of the mental institution.  “Dave” begs Allison to tell him how she thinks Viki will get her out of St. Ann’s.

Jen/Cristian/Lindsay:  Love Thy Mother??

At Sam’s house, Lindsay, through the open front door, overhears Cristian talking to Jen about his working for the police.  This peaks Lindsay’s curiosity.  Lindsay walks in telling Jen she wants to talk, which Jen angrily refuses to do.  Lindsay and Jen begin to argue about Lindsay’s interference in Cristian and Jen’s relationship.  Cristian tells Lindsay to leave and to leave Jen alone if she really wants to prove she is sorry for her actions.  Lindsay begs Cristian and Jen for another chance.  Jen tells her mother that she can no longer trust her.  Lindsay makes a veiled threat concerning Cristian as she recalls what she just overheard before going into Sam’s house.  Jen and Cristian both angrily insist that Lindsay leave.  Lindsay then mysteriously tells Cristian she is not the one he should be worrying about.  Lindsay leaves Sam’s place.

Cristian calms Jen down after the argument with her mother by talking about their planned get-away.  Jen packs her suitcase.  As they leave, Sam stops them.

Antonio/John/Rae:  The Beginning of Goodbye??

At the Palace Hotel, John and Antonio discuss his school credits and attempt at a promotion over lunch.  John encourages Antonio to continue trying to get the last credits he needs.  John mentions that Bo may need Antonio to become the Head of Organized Crime’s Task Force, the job John’s holds now.  Antonio puts two and two together and asks John if he is leaving the Llanview Police Department.  R.J. interrupts the discussion before John can answer.  After a few verbal jabs at each other, Antonio and John ask R.J. to leave.  Rae comes to meet John for lunch.  Antonio leaves Rae and John to talk alone.  John then tells Rae he has news to share with her.

R.J./Lindsay:  A Mother’s Revenge!!

As R.J. is leaving the Palace Hotel, he receives a cell phone call from Lindsay.  Later, Lindsay meets R.J. at the Palace claiming to have important information.  R.J. is skeptical.  Lindsay then reveals Cristian is working undercover for the Llanview Police Department!

Comic Relief of the Day:

Ben acting as mental patient “Dave” is still very funny.  Sam’s question to Ben was even funnier:  “Who are you trying to be?  Forrest Gump?”

----------

My prayers are with all who lost friends and loved ones in the horrific events of 9-11-01.   I know we all want to get back to as normal a life as we can.  Hopefully, our soaps will be able to at least provide an hour or two of escape from what are the most awful and tragic images etched forever in our minds.  Everyone needs to step back, at times, because the enormity of the situation will destroy us on a personal, day-to-day basis.  Sometimes the images and reports are just too much for our souls to bear.  Our soaps and other programs allow us that tiny moment to step away when we feel we can take no more.
