One Life to Live Recap for Monday, October 22, 2001

Nora, Troy, Sam and Jen

Troy and Nora are in his office waiting for Sam so they can go over a plan of treatment for Matthew.  Nora is getting impatient waiting for Sam and wishes he were there already.  She asks Troy what their choices of treatment are.  He tells her there are several choices…they can wait and check Matthew every six months to see if he gets worse, which Nora doesn’t really like.  Troy tells her that there is one treatment that he personally would recommend, but it is experimental as far as children go because it has not been tested on children yet.  He offers her a list of specialists to go to for a second opinion and tells her that there is only one doctor on the east coast that he knows of that can administer this new drug to Matthew….and it’s him.  Nora is hesitant at first, especially when Troy brings up the fact that Nora lives in one place, Sam lives in another and they are not married.  Nora tells him their personal life is none of his business and he quickly tells her that the only reason he brought it up was that Matthew’s treatment will be carefully monitored and he wants to know where to contact Sam or Nora or both of them when he needs to.  Nora apologizes for jumping down his throat and he asks her if she will be able to work with him when she still has so many bitter memories of Colin.  She tells him it won’t matter and she tells him she doesn’t want to wait any longer for Sam.  She has decided what she wants to do.  Troy tells her that if he does the treatment, Matthew will be in the hospital for 24 hours and she never has to leave his side…and they also will know very quickly if the treatment works.

At Sam’s house, he is on his way out of the house to go to the hospital when Jen comes in very upset.  She tells him that she and Cris broke up and that Cris told her he doesn’t love her any more.  She says he didn’t even sound like the Cris she knows and Sam agreed that it didn’t sound like the Cris he knows either.  Sam wants to go talk to Cris, but Jen tells him Cris left for New York.  She also tells him that Cris was only seeing her to get her into bed, but she never felt he was like that.  Nora calls and the machine picks up….she says she’s waiting at the hospital for him and Jen wonders what’s wrong.  Sam tells her that Matthew has a virus and they’re just meeting the doctor to discuss treatment.  Sam tells Jen she’ll just have to take one day at a time and he doesn’t want to leave her, but she convinces him to go and take care of Matthew.

Nora and Troy are still in his office talking and she decides she wants Matthew to have the treatment that Troy suggested…he asks he if she’s sure and she says “Troy, I want you” just as Sam walks in the door.

Blair, Max and Todd

Blair is still crying and very upset and Max can’t believe his baby is dead.  She tells him his baby is not dead and he is very confused.  She finally has to admit to him that the baby wasn’t his.  He is shocked.  She admits that the baby is Todd’s and Max can’t believe it.  She explains to him that after she shot him, she knew he was going to send her to jail and she would lose everything and never see Starr again.  So she figured he couldn’t send her to jail if she was carrying his child…so she lied.  She told him that she confided in Sam and he told her the only way Todd could not take the baby away was if she were married.  She says how sorry she is for what she did and she believes she is being punished for that terrible lie.  Max blames Todd for the baby’s death and for putting Blair through so much stress and he wants to find Todd and let him have it.  Blair begs him not to tell Todd because she hasn’t told him yet that the baby was his.  Max says that Todd doesn’t deserve to have a child and he doesn’t deserve Blair.  He tells her that no matter what she did, she doesn’t deserve to have this happen to her.  Max and Blair bond on a certain level.  He tells he what a wonderful mother she would have made for the baby and she tells him she knows he would have been a great father, but that he has three children that need him and she knows that deep down Al loves him and they will find a way back to each other.  Max promises not to tell Todd that he’s the baby’s father…for now…and Blair tells him that Todd has been so loving and so good to her and that he really loves her and she loves him.  She tells him that Todd has changed, and of course he doesn’t believe it.

Max leaves and runs into Todd at the airport.  Todd has just found Paloma and the baby and met up with a man who took the baby to sell to a couple.  Todd told the man to sell the baby to a good family because even though the father is no good, the baby’s mother is very special.  The man takes the baby and leaves and then Todd runs into Max.  Todd starts taunting Max about Blair losing his baby and Max has had enough…he tells Todd that Blair didn’t lose HIS baby and he’s going to set him straight.

Back at the hacienda, Blair is talking on the phone to someone at the morgue apparently and she’s telling them that she wants to see her baby.

Viki, Jessica, Ben, Natalie, Allison

Viki and Jess are still talking at Llanfair.  Jess is still very upset, not knowing who she is and Viki keeps trying to convince her that no matter what, she is her daughter and there is nothing else to talk about.  The go into the library and the phone rings.  It’s Ben who says he’s coming home and asks how Viki is.  She says she’s just numb from all that has happened and that she’s very worried about Jessie who seems so lost.  At that moment, Jess decides to go for a drive and opens the door running into Seth.  He says he wants to talk to her and if she likes, it will be the last time.  She lets him in and leaves the door open.  He goes on and on about growing up poor and just wanting to know what it was like not to have to worry about money.  She tells him she’s heard enough of his excuses and he tells her that at first she was just a means to an end but once he got to know her everything changed and he’s so sorry.  She says she’s sorry, too…sorry she let him get close to her, sorry she put her faith in him…and that when she thinks about when he kissed her she feels sick…and she’s sorry the most for ever having laid eyes on him…then she tells him to leave.   She goes back into the library and finds Viki looking at her baby pictures…she wonders if Viki is looking for Natalie’s face in those pictures.  Viki says she’s not, that she needs to look at the pictures to remember Jessie back then.

Allison and Natalie are at the hospital talking about how wonderful it is that the plan has gone so well this far, but Allison tells her that it’s not enough that everyone knows she’s a Buchanan…now they have to take the next step.  Natalie starts talking about fooling everyone to get into the house and that now she won’t be licking Viki’s stamps any more and at that moment Ben walks in.  He chastises Natalie, telling her that she hurt Viki so much and asks what kind of a person she is.  He tells her that Viki and Jess were good to her and this is what she does.  He tells her that he remembers when he was with her at the university and she told off those girls who were teasing her…and how he went home and told Viki how tough she was and that she was going to make something of herself.  Natalie says she is all those things and Ben says no, that she’s mean and hurtful and has no pride and that if she lets Allison lead her around, she’s stupid as well.  Natalie gets mad and tells Ben that he doesn’t know her, and Allison butts in.  Ben asks her what she’s got to gain by all this….he says he knows she’s in it to take them for money and that he remembers all the brochures in her room at St. Ann’s with all the big, expensive houses in them.  Allison gives her usual excuses for what she did and Ben didn’t buy any of it.  He tells then that he’s going home to his wife and his stepdaughter…the only stepdaughter he has.

Natalie tells Allison that she is very determined to go on and Allison tells her not to forget how she got there.  Natalie says she could never forget Allison helping her and Allison says that she can’t forget because they have a signed paper.

Ben comes back to Llanfair and walks into the library as Viki and Jess are talking about Natalie.  Ben gives Viki a hug and Jess asks if Viki isn’t the least bit curious about Natalie.  Viki tells her that her family is right there…just the three of them and that she thinks they’ve all had enough for one day.  Ben says Amen to that.  Viki suggests that they treat it like any other day, because that’s just what it is…any other day…and they are going to go into the kitchen and get something to eat.  As they are walking out of the library, Natalie walks in and says, “Hi Mom, I’m home…what’s for lunch?”
