ONE LIFE TO LIVE RECAP FOR FRIDAY, MAY 11, 2001

<<< BACK TO RECAPS  INDEX

Bo, Melanie, Lindsay, etc.

At the gallery, Melanie once again says that she did it, she killed Colin.  Will comes forward and says it’s impossible.  RJ tells Bo that he’d better arrest her, even if he is shacking up with her.  Bo tells him to shut up.  Melanie says that she did it, no one else did, and she is tired of letting everyone else suffer for something she did.  Bo tells her she doesn’t have to say anything.  She says she wants to tell him the truth and she doesn’t need a lawyer.  She asks Bo, “Aren’t you going to arrest me?”  He says that he’s not going to arrest her, but he’s going to take her to the station for formal questioning.  She apologizes to everyone for turning their lives upside down.  Jenn wants Lindsay to do something and Lindsay steps forward and asks Melanie if there’s anything she can do for her, telling her she’d do anything she could to help her.  Jess says she can’t believe that Melanie did it and Jenn storms off saying, “I can’t believe this family.”  Will is still trying to contact Sam.  Bo and Hank take Melanie to the station.

Lindsay is left with RJ in the gallery.  RJ congratulates her on quite a performance.  Lindsay tells him to go home, the party is over.  RJ tells her he has something to settle with her first.  He tells her he never wants to have anything to do with her again, whether it is regarding drugs or anything else.  She tells him that she is a changed person and she will never come to him for anything like that again.  He laughs in her face and warns her that she’d better never try to pin the drugging of Nora on him or she’ll be sorry.  Lindsay says, “It never happened.”  RJ and Lindsay trade accusations…with RJ saying that someone might still think Lindsay killed Colin.  He said he finds it hard to believe that someone as pure and good as Melanie could commit murder.  Lindsay says it could be RJ because he had the body in a crate, but RJ says they can’t prove it was the same crate.  Then RJ reminds Lindsay that Melanie had a secret that she was keeping from Bo and Lindsay remembers that Melanie had that secret and was being blackmailed by Colin.  Now Lindsay thinks Melanie really has a motive.

At the Police Station

Bo and Melanie go into his office and Hank wants to join them to keep everything “by the book.”  Bo tells him he can handle it and Hank agrees to wait right outside the door, just in case.  Bo sits on the desk and turns on the tape recorder, stating who is in the room and having Melanie confirm that she declined to have a lawyer present.  She says that she should have told him everything that happened the night Colin died.  Bo asks her to tell him exactly what happened that night.  She says that until now, she has been lying to him over and over.

The following is Melanie flashing back to that night:  Melanie starts by saying that she had a bad feeling that night that Colin was going to do something to Nora.  She called Nora and no one answered, so she went to her house.  She walked in and Nora wasn’t there and she got more worried.  That’s when she went to Colin’s house.  Colin answered the door and wasn’t happy to see her.  She told him that she knew he was up to something with Nora and that she knew she was there and wanted to see her.  Colin tried to keep her out and she went in anyway.  They went into the living room and they were arguing about Colin ruining everyone’s lives and that he wasn’t going to ruin Nora’s any more.  Colin shoved her, knocking over some furniture and he said he’d be putting that on her bill.  He taunted her about the secret she was keeping about her father’s death and that she never told Bo and she kept backing away from him.  When she backed up near the fireplace, her hand went behind her and grabbed a poker.  She pulled it on him and told him she wanted to see Nora.  He kept pursuing her, not afraid that she had a weapon.  She got out of the living room to the staircase and was heading up to the bedroom where Nora was when Colin grabbed her from behind on the steps and pulled her down.  They struggled and he kept her down on the stairs.  She tried to get away and he pulled her by the hair (hence, her hair under his fingernails), then she turned and hit him with the poker.  He immediately fell unconscious at the bottom of the stairs and she ran out.  She told Bo that she came to the police station right after that to tell him what she had done and he was on his way out to Colin’s.   When Bo came back he said he hadn’t found Colin at the house, so Melanie said she figured that if Colin’s body wasn’t there, then maybe she didn’t kill him.

She asked Bo what the autopsy report said and he read the folder, “Cause of death, blow to the head.”  At that point, Melanie said, “I really did kill him.”  Bo asked her if she had moved the body to the woods and she said no.   He asked her if she felt afraid for her life at Colin’s house.  Melanie said she was afraid for Nora.   Bo asked if Colin was hurting her and she said she was sick of him hurting everyone else.  Bo asked her why she waited so long to tell him what happened.  She said she didn’t want to put him in the position that he’s in now.  She didn’t want to lose him.  She says, “But I’m going to lose you today.  I’ve been lying to you about my father, too.”  At that moment, Lindsay walks in and says, “Tell him, Lanie.  I’d like to know about our fathers death, too.”

Kelly, Antonio & Roseanne

Kelly and Antonio are at the Palace Bar.  She tells him that she has spoken to Sophia and needs to talk to him.  Antonio goes off on her right away, telling her he doesn’t want to talk about Sophia being in love with him…that they’ve been through all that and talked about it.  Kelly tells him that it has nothing to do with her trying to fix him up with Sophia and asks him if he thinks that Sophia only thinks about her feelings for him and nothing else.  She asks if she can’t have something to discuss with him that’s police business.  He apologizes for being a jerk and as Kelly was about to tell him about the leak in the department, Roseanne walks in.  They chat for a minute then Antonio excuses himself to go call the station. Roseanne and Kelly are left alone and Kelly tells her she has just spoken to Sophia.  Roseanne asks how Sophia is and Kelly says she’s doing great and already started rehab.  Then Kelly starts talking about the leak in the department and Roseanne is surprised that Sophia told Kelly.  She tells Kelly that it’s suspected, but not confirmed that there is a leak.  Then Antonio comes back and asks Kelly what she wanted to tell him.  Roseanne starts to squirm and Kelly says it’s about RJ, and that she’ll tell him about it when she has proof.

Cris, Jenn, Jess and Will

The foursome winds up back at Sam’s house.  Sam is nowhere to be found.  They start to talk about Melanie confessing and can’t believe she’d do it.  They wonder if it’s all over now and Will and Cris keep saying that it was self defense and that Lanie will not go to jail for killing Colin.  Jess says that as long as it was Melanie, then she doesn’t feel so bad that they protected her.  Jess says that maybe now they can go back to being normal and Jenn says, “Nothing is normal.”  Jess and Cristian leave and Will stays with Jenn, saying he wants to wait to see Sam.  Jess asks Cris if he thinks Will and Jenn knew it was Lanie.  Cris says he doesn’t know and she should ask Will.  Jenn asks Will if it’s really over and he says it is.  Jenn goes out of the room and Will is alone.  He pulls a passport out of his pocket with Colin’s picture in it.

Asa, Renee, Max and the new bride

Alex is locked upstairs in the hotel room.  Max is in the restaurant with Renee and she tells him that Asa is marrying Alex.  He is shocked but he tells Renee that Asa is not doing this to get back at her…he’s doing it to get back at Max.  Max is angry that Asa is hurting Renee this way and asks where the wedding is.  Renee tells him it’s right there in her hotel and he asks how she let that happen.  She tells him that she didn’t take the reservation.

Asa is ready for the wedding.  He has Andrew presiding and Andrew is not too happy.  He wonders where Asa’s family is and Asa tells him that they’ve seen him get married enough times.  Nigel is there.  Andrew says he doesn’t like to do weddings like this, that happen so quickly and Asa, of course, talks him into it.  They start the ceremony and the bride comes walking down the aisle in a full wedding dress and a very thick veil that no one can see through.  Andrew starts the ceremony and Asa tells him to cut to the chase and get it over with.  They take the vows and as Andrew tells him he can kiss the bride, Max barges in.  The bride is still in full veil and Max starts arguing with Asa about marrying Alex to get back at him.  He yells at Asa for being so cruel and doing this to Renee.  He reminds Asa that Alex stole $30 Million from him and that she hurt Asa more than he ever did.  Asa tells Max that Alex didn’t take as much from him as Max did and that he’s going to pay in a way he’s never paid before.  He laughs at Max.  Max turns to the bride and wants her to say something.  He wants to confront her and she says nothing and doesn’t move.  He walks up to her and pulls her veils off and guess who?????   It’s Gabrielle!
