ONE LIFE TO LIVE RECAP FOR THURSDAY, JANUARY 25, 2001

<<< BACK TO RECAPS  INDEX

The Warehouse

Antonio and Sophia bust into a room in RJ’s warehouse, expecting to find some kind of illegal activity.  The room is empty and nobody is there.  Sophia wonders where all the bad guys are.  Their backup shows up and gives Sophia a hard time about her hot tip before they head back to the station.  Antonio and Sophia stay behind, as she wonders if there ever was a shipment.  Her source is usually very reliable.  Antonio reminds her that RJ may very well have his own sources and Sophia can’t believe there could be a snitch in the department.  She wonders who could have tipped him off.

The Station House

Roseanne is ready to leave and asks John if she needs to do anything else before going.  He asks her if she delivered all of the messages.  She indicates that she has and he wonders if she has taken care of all of them.  Her “yes” is a bit snippy and John tells her that she had better check her attitude; she put an officer’s life in jeopardy and people are upset.  He knows that the officers have been giving her a hard time and wonders if she really wants to do this.  She tells him that she does; she’s not giving up.  He wonders if she if referring to her job or officer Vega.  Roseanne states that this is about her job and she promises she won’t let her personal life interfere again.  Sykes warns her that she had better not.

Ben, Kelly and Kevin are in the hallway, talking about their encounter with the hit man.  Ben isn’t surprised that he wasn’t very sympathetic; he is, after all, a hit man.  He apologizes to Kelly for her having to be involved in the whole affair, since he was the intended target.  She tells him that she is glad to be able to help.  Kevin asks if she’d like to join him for a cold beer and a warm dance and the two leave.

Ben is left in the hallway and is there just as Charlie and his lawyer come by.  He asks him how it’s going, saying that he is probably finding himself between a rock and a hard place, with the DA on one side and the mob on the other.  Ben informs him that his only prayer is to give up who’s behind it all.  Charlie looks up to see Asa in the squad room and smiles.

Nora’s

Max and Lindsay are still going at it.  He tells her to stop trying to change the subject and Lindsay wonders if he has heard a word she was saying.  She tells Max that Colin has built a shrine in Nora’s honor, which has probably actually become a castle by now.  Colin is totally obsessed and she can’t believe that Max isn’t worried.  He tells her that he might be if he actually believed her.  He also tells her that Nora has protection.  When she asks him how, he says that she must think that he is dumber than she is.  She points out that this is all a waste of time and that Nora’s life is in danger.

Colin’s Place

Nora and Colin share a kiss and Nora pulls away somewhat flustered, telling him that it is surprising.  He tells her that it is actually just the way he imagined it; all he needed was a kiss to make it complete.  Nora turns her back to Colin and eyes the pager as he pours some wine.  He hands her a glass and suggests that the toast to a happy ending and Nora tells him that she will drink to that.  Colin tells her that he has something for her and produces Lanie’s ruby necklace.  He remembers that Nora once told him that rubies were her favorite stone and no one had ever gotten them for her.  He puts it around her neck and tells her to consider that corrected.  She is taken aback and tells him that it is lovely and he responds that she is the only person in the world that has the right to wear it

Colin sees Nora’s apprehension and asks if there is something wrong.  She tells him that her head is confused and jumbled inside.  He is surprised, as he feels like everything makes perfect sense.  She explains that she feels close to him, but that she doesn’t want to, not until some answers about her life come to her.  He wonders what she needs to know and she asks if he ever thought about how he was keeping her away from her son while he held her there.  Did he ever think how much it would hurt her to erase all of her memories of that son?  She explains that she is trying to make sense of everything.  Colin swears that he always intended to return her to her life, but she wonders why he didn’t try.  He explains that he did; he faxed her picture to all of the police stations, but she wasn’t coherent.  He kept asking for a name and when she finally gave him one, it was Lindsay Rappaport.

Nora’s

Max tells Lindsay that he is going to make sure that Nora is safe from her and from Colin.  She tells him that he is making a mistake and that she has warned him, but he tells her that he is going to keep her there, where she can’t go after Nora or blackmail Asa.  She picks up the phone and says that she’ll just call the police and tell them what she knows.

The Station House

Ben tells Charlie that he was a doctor for the mob; he knows what they can do to people.  Charlie’s lawyer advises Ben to leave his client alone, but Ben tells Charlie that he and the lawyer both work for the same people and his lawyer is there to see to it that he keeps his mouth shut.  Ben tells Charlie not to be a fool and then leaves.  As he eyes Asa, Charlie wonders out loud what Ben would think if he told him that the man who ordered the hit is standing across the room.  Charlie’s lawyer states that as his lawyer, he would have to advise him against that.

In the squad room, Sykes asks Asa if he can help him.  Asa states that he is looking for his son and John tells him that he isn’t there at the moment, asking Asa if he is ok.  Asa brushes him off, saying he is fine and heads for Bo’s office.  Once inside, he loosens his collar and sits down in the chair.  He looks up and imagines that Charlie is standing in the doorway.  He asks him who the hell he is and Charlie tells him that now that the job is over he needs to give him back his tools, as he hands Asa a gun.  Asa asks him if he is damn crazy, but Charlie insists that he is not; after all, Asa paid for it.  Asa tells him that there is no way that it can be traced back to him.

Charlie is gone and Ben steps in.  Asa asks him how much he has heard.  “Enough,” Ben answers and wants to know Asa’s motives.  Asa explains that he threatened Max, but Ben demands to know the real reason.  Asa seems confused, but Ben tells him that he knows the real reason.  Asa looks away and when he looks up again Ben has become Max.  “Son,” Asa calls out, but then Max becomes Ben again.  “My God, you’re the one,” Asa exclaims to Ben, who really is standing in the doorway.

Rodi's

Kevin and Kelly come in and race each other to the jukebox.  Kelly claims victory, but Kevin says that he has let her won.  She chides that he just doesn’t like losing to girls, but he says that he’s lost his heart to her.  He’s happy because he hasn’t seen her this happy in a long time.  She agrees, saying that she is finally free to love him.  They kiss.

At the bar, some of the other rookie cops are giving Sophia a hard time about playing “Charlie’s Angels” earlier.  She says that if that is an insult, they should keep them coming.  Somebody makes a crack about her questionable tips, but Antonio defends her, saying she made a good call.

The Station House

Ben asks Asa if he is ok.  “You.  You’re the one,” Asa answers.  Ben tells Asa that what ever has happened, he has done it to himself.  Asa says that he wanted Ben wiped off the face of the earth and Ben tells him that he almost got his wish. Somebody tried to kill him.  Asa mentions that he did hear about that and Ben asks him why he is at the station.  Asa explains that he is looking for Bo then hesitates for a moment, before asking Ben if he wants his license back, saying that he could do it.  Ben is surprised and can’t believe that Asa no longer hates him.  Asa tells him that he won’t lose his family and he wants the war to be over.  He also tells Ben that he has heard about the shooter being caught.  As he says this, he looks up to see Charlie outside the window.

Nora’s

Max grabs the phone away from Lindsay to keep her from making the call. She tells him that he is just putting off the inevitable; his father is going down.  Max finds this laughable; Asa is the most powerful man in the state.  Who would believe Lindsay’s word over his?  He’d take those odds any day.

Max’s cell phone rings and it is Asa.  He tells Max that he needs him now; everything is coming in on him, both Ben and the guy who tried to whack him are there at the station.

Max tells Lindsay that he has business to take care of and must leave.  He tells Lindsay that she had better wait there or he will not be pleased.

As soon as he leaves, Lindsay tries to phone Colin, who does not pick up the phone.

Colin’s

Nora is startled to know that she asked for Lindsay.  She wants to know if Colin called her and what she said.  Colin hesitates, saying that certainly Nora didn’t come just to talk about Lindsay.  Nora explains that she feels safe with Colin, but she needs to know why.  He promises that he would never hurt her.  She tells him that she needs to know that and wants to be able to trust him.  He thinks that they both want the same thing.  Colin tells her to come with him and she asks where he wants her to go.  He tells Nora that he wants to take her up to the bedroom and Nora hesitates.  Colin explains that he wants her to be able to confront her doubts; maybe there will be something up there that will jog her memory.  She wonders if maybe there won’t be, but he tells her that if there isn’t, she can ask him anything.  He promises to give her what she wants, saying that it is what they both need.  Nora refuses to go and Colin wonders why she is pulling away; they are so close.  She’s not sure she can trust him, but he tells her that she must give him a chance.  She wants to know how she can be sure she can believe him.

Nora’s

Nora has set off Max’s beeper, which he left there on the couch.  Lindsay goes over to pick it up, sees the message “HELP”, and smiles.

Colin’s

Nora tells Colin that she wants for there to be trust but that Lindsay said that he would hurt her.  Colin asks if Nora would really believe Lindsay and she admits that she has never believed her before.

Nora’s

Lindsay is once again talking to her conscience, in the form of Nora.  The conscience tells her to call the police, but Lindsay argues that if Nora ends up getting hurt, she has it coming.  The conscience points out that if Nora dies, her words will come true.  Lindsay covers her ears and makes noises so that she won’t have to listen.  When she looks up her conscience is gone.

Colin’s

Nora tells Colin that she is growing to trust him more and more, so he asks her again to go upstairs.  She tells him that she can’t because she doesn’t trust herself.  She’s afraid that she won’t be able to handle it and that the memories will be too painful.  Colin sees her fear and offers to make her some tea.  She thanks him, telling him not to go to the trouble.  She says that he needs to know something about her; she doesn’t open up a lot to people and it is never easy.  She needs time and she needs to trust.  Colin apologizes, saying that if he has pressured her in any way he is sorry.  Nora tells him that she has had a lovely evening.  Colin tells her that she needs to know that this is a whole new experience for him.  He has never waited for a woman, but she is worth it; if it’s all for nothing then he doesn’t want her to lie to him and lead him on. Nora leaves and as Colin closes the door she lets out a sigh of relief, asking Max where he was.

The Station House

Charlie comes to the doorway of Bo’s office.  “Hey I know you!” he says to Asa.  Asa says that he has never seen him before.  Charlie continues, saying that he has seen him it papers; he is the big shot, Asa Buchanan.   It sure must be something to have all the money you want to spend on anything you want or anything you want to get done.  Charlie’s lawyer takes him by the arm and leads him away.

Max comes in and asks Asa how he is doing.  Asa is glad to see him and tells him that that the low-life hit man was bothering him.

Max sees Ben and approaches him, asking him if he is happy that the whole ordeal is over.  Ben tells him that he still needs to know who hired the shooter and asks Max about the tip he got before the shooting.  Max reminds him that it was anonymous and says that the good guys are still winning.  Ben isn’t convinced and heads for the door.

Asa wonders what Ben had to say.  Max tells him that he had nothing to say and that everything will be fine.

In the parking lot there is a limousine.  When Ben comes out, Gina puts down her window and tells him to get in.

Rodi's

Sophia thanks Antonio for sticking up for her with the other rookies.  He tells her that she would have done the same for him, but she says that she wouldn’t have had to.  Roseanne comes over and asks Antonio if she can speak with him.  He tells her that he is in the middle of something, but she insists, saying that it won’t take long.  She tells him that she has been taking lip from officers all day long and he reminds her that she didn’t back Sophia up.  She tells him that Bo will let her keep her job, which she needs, but she won’t stick it out if he doesn’t want her to.  Antonio tells her that it’s not for him to decide and he knows she needs the job.  He tells her that it’s up to her and she leaves.  She stops at the door to watch the rookies and then leaves.

The Limousine

Ben wants to know why Gina has tracked him down.  She tells him that she has gotten some news from her contact, but Ben says that he doesn’t want her taking risks.  She tells him there were none; all of her information came from third parties and she is trying to make up for not being able to help him when they were kids.  She tells him that the contract on him is null and void, but is unable to tell him who ordered the hit, saying that he is safe.  Ben disagrees, saying that things could change over night and he doesn’t want to wait for someone to threaten his family.  He tells Gina that he could use her help, although he doesn’t have the right to ask for it, but she says that he doesn’t have to ask. He’s got it.

The Station House

Asa thanks Max for coming, saying that things are coming at him from all sides.  Even the hit man wants more money; he didn’t say as much, but it was certainly implied.  Max tells him not to worry; he’ll take care of everything.  Asa asks if Nora is getting anywhere and Max says that he wouldn’t doubt it and adds that if she needs him she can use the beeper.  He then realizes that he doesn’t have it in his pocket.

Colin’s

Colin picks up Nora’s wine glass and smiles.  As he stands there thinking, the doorbell rings.  He opens the door to find Lindsay, who is looking for Nora.  Colin tells her that Nora just left.  Lindsay wants to know if Colin told her. When he asks what, she tells him not to act stupid.  Nora is using him and he would be able to see that if he didn’t let his ego get in the way.  She tells him that Nora is lying to his face and she can prove it.  Colin warns her to never try to come between Nora and him.

The Limousine

Ben apologizes to Gina for getting her mixed up in things, but she reminds him that she was born mixed up in it.  She says that her father and his pals took away anything that ever meant anything to her and then says that she’ll be in touch.  Ben says that hopefully he’ll be able to make it up to her and she’ll get the life she deserves.  Gina tells him that it is a plan.

Rodi's

Sophia tries to talk to Antonio about the bad tip about RJ’s warehouse, but realizes he is daydreaming.  She asks what he is thinking about, but he doesn’t want to talk.  She asks if he is thinking about Roseanne and he says that it’s not important.  She says that it is to her and she needs to know if they are still together.  He admits that he didn’t know if he could trust Roseanne after what she did to Cris, but he liked her so he gave her a second chance.  Unfortunately, she has gone back to her old ways and her lies and games.  Antonio admits that things may be partly his fault, but says that he doesn’t need all this.  He got burned in marriage and doesn’t intend to get burned again.

Nora’s

Nora and Max have both returned.  She blasts him for being “some” bodyguard.  She needed him, she beeped for him, she left, and she passed him on the road.  She tells him that she almost ended up in Colin’s bedroom, but he argues that it’s over.  She tells him that it’s not over by a long shot. She has come this far and she’s not stopping now.

Colin’s

Colin tells Lindsay that he knows what she said about him to Nora. Lindsay then pulls out Max’s beeper and shows it to him, saying that Max left it on the couch and Nora tried to reach him.  She tells him to read it and see what Nora thinks of him.
