ONE LIFE TO LIVE RECAP FOR TUESDAY, JANUARY 23, 2001

<<< BACK TO RECAPS  INDEX

Blair is delighted to find out that Rae is Skye's mother. She laughs as she
thinks about Skye going on a real bender once she hears the news. Blair
admits to Todd that this is the second best gift she's ever received - the
first being Starr - and he gave them both to her. She thanks Todd, who leans
in for a kiss. They linger together, then slowly pull apart. Just as Blair
moves in again, the phone rings. It's Starr's teacher, so they rush out.

When Todd and Blair arrive at Starr's school, they discover that she's found
out about her teacher's affair and she's blackmailing him in order to get a
more favorable report card. "That's awful!" Blair exclaims. "That's great!"
Todd counters. Blair berates her daughter for her behavior, as she explains
that it's not nice to spy on people. Blair is shocked when Starr confesses
that "Daddy taught me how to find out people's secrets." She is further
stunned when Starr reveals that Todd had her spy on Blair and Max, with the
goal of breaking them up. Meanwhile, Todd pretends to see the teacher's
point of view, only to threaten to expose him in The Sun. Blair apologizes
for "my daughter and her father." Blair turns on Todd, accusing him of
destroying their little girl. "I can't believe I was about to make love to
you this afternoon," Blair tells Todd, adding that she's glad the teacher
called, since it kept her from making a huge mistake.

The duo return to Blair's hotel room. "Don't you dare lecture me on morals,"
Todd spits. They argue vehemently over past indiscretions as they exchange
threats. "I won't marry you," Blair vows. She demands that Todd swear never
to use her past against her, and to allow her to raise Starr the way she
wants to. Todd refuses, and offers a counter proposal. "You take me, and you
take me now, the way I am." "Here's the deal. The wedding's off," Blair
declares. "The hell it is," Todd hisses.

Across town, Skye wonders why Rae is so eager to help her. Rae maintains
that she misjudged Skye, but Ms. Chandler doesn't buy it. John, fed up with
Skye's attitude, warns her that, unless she lays off Rae, he won't be
helping her. Skye pleads with the detective not to abandon her. He won't,
under certain conditions, he tells her. The first is, she has to apologize
to Rae. Skye is reluctant, but eventually she's coerced into saying she's
sorry. John asks for a few minutes alone with Rae, so Skye heads for the bar
to sip a club soda.

John insists that Skye needs to start acting like an adult. Rae reminds him
that Skye is damaged - her father basically ignores her, and her mother was
in and out of institutions. "Don't be another person to bail on her, John,"
Rae pleads. She is relieved when John promises that he'll continue to help
Skye. They both admit that they've seen the scared little girl side of Ms.
Chandler. Rae muses about what it must have been like to be Adam Chandler's
daughter, a man who didn't even bother to return Skye's calls when she was
in prison. Rae expresses her gratitude to John for his pledge of help. He
urges her not to get her hopes up, as there's plenty of circumstantial
evidence against Skye and nothing to exonerate her. "I'm not giving up on my
daughter," Rae vows. John opines that their only option is to turn Blair and
Todd against each other. Rae is doubtful. He could use some insider info,
John hints, but Rae insists that she can't break doctor/patient
confidentiality. Skye approaches the duo, wondering how much longer they'll
be. Rae remarks that she's about to leave, then she thanks Skye for the
latter's earlier apology. Once alone with John, Skye asks what their next
move will be. He's hesitant to involve her, given her previous outburst with
Blair, but he eventually reveals that they intend to "get Todd and Blair to
rat each other out."

A short time later, Skye is fitted with a wire, as is John. The plan is for
him to go after Blair while Skye works on Todd. If either says anything
incriminating, it'll be on tape. Skye is skeptical, but John assures her
they'll be successful. All they need to do is to play on Todd and Blair's
weaknesses.

Jen shares an emotional reunion with Sam and Lindsay, who are both surprised
to see her. The good feelings are short-lived, however, as Jen queries her
mother about the fight she witnessed between her parents as she arrived.
"What were you lying about this time?" Jen wonders. Lindsay is hurt at her
daughter's assumption, and accuses Sam of having turned Jen against her. The
two women are soon at each others' throats. Sam attempts to play peacemaker
by assuring Jen that the matter is between himself and Lindsay. Jen counters
that this is the way it always was - Will was an accident, while she was
supposed to save their marriage, but look where they are now. The tension is
broken by Will's arrival. Jen seems genuinely happy to see her brother, and
they engage in some good-natured teasing. He calls her on the stunt and the
attitude she pulled on Jessica, as Sam and Lindsay freak at the news that
their daughter was out all night. Sam informs Jen that, if she's living
under his roof, she'll have to follow his rules. Lindsay immediately jumps
in, insisting that Jen will be staying with her. The duo argue. Fed up, Jen
asks Will to take her to the airport. She insists she won't be "the rope in
your constant game of tug of war." Chastened, Sam tells her she can decide.
She chooses Will's, but he objects. Jen then picks Sam's place. Lindsay,
obviously disappointed, bites her tongue and offers to cook dinner for the
family instead. Jen declines. She'd rather spend the evening with her
brother.

Once the younger Rappaports head out, Lindsay gets on Sam's case, but he
reminds her that she's the reason the argument started in the first place.
Lindsay warns Sam against saying anything negative to Jen. Sam insists he
wouldn't shatter Jen's image of her mother, whatever that might be. Sam
muses about Colin knowing the truth about Lindsay, and wonders why he's not
bleeding her dry. As he speaks the words, it suddenly dawns on him that
Colin is blackmailing Lindsay, and that's why she needed money. Sam urges
his ex to come clean with him, but she'll have none of it. Lindsay beats a
hasty retreat.

Will and Jen arrive at the loft. Jessica is out, but has left a note, which
Jen quickly reads. She ponders whether Jess is the right girl for Will,
since she seems like a goody two shoes, while Will is a party animal, like
Jen. Will jumps to Jessica's defense. Jen teases her brother about being in
love, then declares that love sucks and he should know that. Just look at
their parents, after all. Jen asks Will what Lindsay did. It's "just one
more round in the mom and dad wars," Will demurs. Jen agrees to drop the
subject. Colin becomes the next topic of discussion. Will warns Jen to stay
away from their uncle.

Over at Nora's, the latter models her outfit for Max. He admits that he's
not comfortable with her plan, but she assures him she can handle Colin. Max
wonders how far Nora is willing to go to get the information she wants on
Lindsay. "I will do everything that I have to do to make sure she pays -
without losing my soul in the process," Nora vows. Max warns Nora that Colin
is psychotic. Nora suggests that Max can bail if he wants to, but he insists
he'll stick it out. Ever the dutiful son, Nora mutters, as she muses aloud
about the reasons Asa wants to see Lindsay nailed. It's because Lindsay took
Clint for a ride, and was about to do the same to Bo, Max explains. That
stuff is ancient history, Nora responds, and she thinks this has to do with
something more recent. Max stays mum and opts to walk out, but Nora calls
him back. Max is glad that she's scared. Nora confesses that she doesn't
understand how Colin could have done the things he's admitted to, and yet
now be so loving towards her. Colin is obsessed with her, just as she is
with Lindsay, Max theorizes. The talk shifts to Skye. Nora swears that she'
ll convince a jury of Skye's innocence, just as she'll persuade them of
Lindsay's guilt once Colin fingers her. Max's phone rings. It's Asa,
requesting his son's help. Before leaving, Max advises Nora to stay put, and
to make sure not to leave herself alone with Colin. He gives her a beeper so
that she can page him at the first sign of trouble.

As Nora ponders her next move, her phone rings. It's Colin. Nora stalls,
informing him that the babysitter is late and she can't leave until she
knows Matthew will be taken care of. She babbles nervously, then ends the
conversation by telling Colin she's looking forward to their evening. Once
she's hung up, she whispers a prayer that Max will return soon. The doorbell
rings. Nora rushes to the door, expecting Max. She's less than thrilled to
spot Lindsay. "You're dressed to kill," Lindsay observes. "Who's the
victim?" Lindsay guesses that Nora is on her way to see Colin. Nora
suggests that Lindsay mind her own business. Lindsay doesn't budge, as she
opines that the only reason Nora would be putting herself in a situation
with Colin would be to get the goods on Lindsay.
