ONE LIFE TO LIVE RECAP FOR THURSDAY, JANUARY 11, 2001

<<< BACK TO RECAPS  INDEX

Dorian’s

Kelly is at her computer and finds another email from Joey.  It asks her to meet him one last time at their tree on Lantano Mountain.  As she is preparing to leave, Sophia comes in and wonders where the guard is.  Kelly explains that the guard has been pulled and that she needs to leave.  Sophia thinks that’s a crazy idea and tells Kelly that she is still in danger.

Colin’s

Colin answers his door and finds Will.  He snidely asks him if he is going to be civilized or if he has brought his brass knuckles with him and wonders why he has come.  Will tells him that he wants him to stop harassing his mother and not to play innocent.  When Colin objects, saying that he is not the guilty party, Will points our that New Year’s Eve was personal, but he is there today for business reasons.

Will’s Loft

Jess sits on the couch struggling with a paper on Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales.  There is a knock at the door and she finds that Sam has come to see Will.  When she tells him that Will is out, Sam asks if she could ask Will to pencil him in for an appointment as soon as possible.  Jess asks Sam if he has a minute and invites him in.  She tells him that she is worried about Lindsay and thinks she is up to something.

Melanie’s Office

Lindsay enters Melanie’s office, which is empty, looking for clues about her secret.  She finds a file cabinet behind the desk, which is locked.  A search of Melanie’s desk produces the key, which is hidden under the letter “K” in the dictionary, and opens the cabinet.  She pulls out a file marked “Family/Personal” and begins to peruse it.  Melanie comes in and asks her what she is doing.

The Station House

In Bo’s office, Nora has tried on Melanie’s engagement ring and can’t get it off. Bo comes in to find her struggling with it.  “You caught me diamond-handed,” she says with a feeble smile.  She begins to babble, saying that she had come in to leave him a message and saw the ring, which is beautiful, and now appears to be hers, since she can’t get it off.  Bo says little, but pulls some lip balm out of his pocket and gently applies it to her finger.  She asks him if he’s ever done this before and he says that he hasn’t.  The ring eventually comes off, if somewhat painfully, and she thanks him.  Bo then asks Nora what has brought her by.  She is somewhat embarrassed to admit that she heard a rumor that he proposed to Lanie.  Bo immediately knows that Asa is the culprit and apologizes.  She tells him that it’s no big deal, then corrects herself, saying that it is a big deal to him.  She stops herself again and says that it is a big deal to her, too; any way you look at it it’s a big deal.

Colin’s

Colin mocks Will, commenting on his briefcase and asking if he is selling Girl Scout cookies.  Will is serious.  He tells Colin that the boy he used to shag baseballs with is gone and the prisoner in the basement is gone, too.  Colin tells Will that if he’s smart, he’ll stay gone.  Will tells Colin that he is now the owner of a corporation and Colin wonders if it might be Lawnmowers Inc.  Will warns Colin that he’d better be paying attention because he is in a position to cut him down and clean him out.

Melanie’s Office

Melanie asks Lindsay what she’s doing.  When Lindsay says that she dropped by to say hello, Melanie wonders why her desk drawer is open.  Lindsay explains that she found the key under the letter “K”, which is where Melanie always kept her diary key, too.  Melanie can’t believe that Lindsay read her diary.  “How do you think I always knew all your secrets?” Lindsay chides.  Melanie asks Lindsay if she has found what she was looking for.  Lindsay tells her that she hasn’t yet, but that Colin has told her that she has a secret and that it involves their father.  “Colin likes to start trouble,” Melanie states.

The Station House

Nora is stammering through the conversation and trying to explain herself.  Bo says that he ought to wring his father’s neck.  He should have been the one to tell her, not Asa.  She says that she knew that he and Melanie were close, but had not realized they were ready for marriage, although it is none of her business.  He tells her that having feelings is ok, but she disagrees, saying that it’s not ok with her.  He says that they put you in jail for your actions, not for you emotions.  Nora doesn’t understand the comment and Bo has to admit that he is not sure why he said it.  He tells her that they were there in his office when she told him that she was going to marry Sam.  She wonders what that was like for him.  He tells her that it was not like he didn’t remember that their marriage was over.  She comments that she wishes that she could and that at least he remembers the mistakes.  He tells her that they both made mistakes and after her revelation he knew that he had lived through the revolution and was on the other side.  She comments that they had a terrific marriage, and then they didn’t.  “Then it was over,” he agrees.  Nora tells him that it’s hard to deal with your feelings and he points out that that is a natural reaction, but that what’s done is done and you can’t go back.

Dorian’s

Sophia convinces Kelly to wait for a moment and calls the station for information about Kelly’s protection.  Roseanne tells her that Bo is busy, so she asks Roseanne if she knows anything about it.  Roseanne pulls a memo out of the box and reads it, saying that it appears that security protection has been terminated.  Sophia asks her to check with Bo, but she won’t, saying that she won’t fall for that trick again.  Sophia points out that there could be a life at stake, but Roseanne holds firm, saying that hers could be at stake too and that it is a real memo and she is reading it now.  Sophia hangs up, wondering how they could think the budget was more important than someone’s life.  She then asks Kelly where she needs to go.

Kelly says that she has to go meet Joey; he is out of control.  Sophia wonders if Kevin knows, and Kelly says that he does not.  He thinks that Joey has come to terms with the situation.  Sophia tells Kelly that Joey has sworn to her that he didn’t send the orchids, but Kelly doesn’t buy it, pointing out that he said he was speeding up the divorce, too, when in fact, he was slowing it down.  Sophia reads the note and asks about the tree.  Kelly explains about their initials being carved there. She thinks that maybe it is appropriate that things started there and will end there.

Lantano Mountain

Charlie, disguised as Gray, has arrived at the tree.

Colin’s

Will remembers an old baseball trick that Colin taught him when he was a kid.  He learned to hide that ball in his glove and pop it out at the last minute, catching the opposing player off guard.  Colin wants him to get to the point, so Will does, saying that his company deals with acquisitions and he has acquired a company that Colin happens to have invested heavily in.  Will adds that he may just have to let that company go down.  Colin tells Will that he has a lot of money tied up in that company.  Will knows that and tells Colin that he’s got the ball in his glove; one false move and Colin is out.  Colin points out that this doesn’t seem like business to him, it seems personal.  As Will leaves, he tells Colin that he just may be right.

Will’s Loft

Jess invites Sam in to talk. He tells her that she can trust him with any information regarding Lindsay.  She explains that she doesn’t want to see Will get hurt and she thinks Lindsay is lying about the money that she was supposed to give Will but didn’t.  Sam admits that he is in the dark about the money.  Jess explains that it was guilt money from Asa.  She goes on to say that on New Year’s Eve they saw Lindsay with Colin and Will asked her to stay away from him.  She has promised to do that, but Jessica isn’t convinced.  She adds that she knows that Will loves his mother.  Sam agrees and says that he has good reason; Lindsay was totally different when the kids were young.  She was encouraging and supportive and probably always closer to Will.  Jess thinks so too and says they are very much alike; they are smart and determined.  “And willful and stubborn,” Sam adds.

Sam explains that the divorce was tough on the kids; Jen doesn’t come home any more and Will seems to be looking for stability and love.  He points out that he thinks Jessica is very good for Will.  Jess says that he is good for her too.  Sam says that honesty is a new thing for Will. He is just learning to trust.   Jess mentions her situation with her grandfather and says she knows how bad Will would feel if his mother betrayed him.  She couldn’t believe that Asa would lie to her, but she eventually got proof.  The problem with Lindsay is that they have no proof.  Sam says he believes that the truth will come out.

The Station House

Bo tells Nora that he should have been more up front with her.  She tells him that he should have, but he didn’t want to hurt her feelings and neither did Lanie.  Nora points out that she hasn’t been honest either; she talked to Asa and realized that she was crazy.  Bo reiterates that Asa should have kept his nose out of their business, but Nora disagrees, saying that he was right.  She had to come there and be clear about him and Lanie and BINGO there it is – a beautiful ring.  She wonders what is keeping him from asking her.  He tells her that he did and Melanie turned him down.

Dorian’s

Kelly explains to Sophia that she tried hard to spare Joey’s feelings. She never wanted to hurt him or anyone.  If he needs to be hit between the eyes, though, maybe Lantano Mountain is a good place for it.  Sophia doesn’t think that nighttime is the best time to go there.  Kelly states that she hates this and wonders why he can’t let go.  Sophia says that Joey swore he didn’t send the orchids; she didn’t think he’d lie to her.  Kelly says that he lied to her about the divorce and he used Sophia in his little games; he has changed.  She’s going to go to talk to him; she has to try one more time.  Sophia thinks that it may be smarter not to respond, but Kelly says that she has to face him and make him understand.  Sophia wishes her good luck.

Melanie’s Office

Lindsay wants to know what her father told Melanie before he died.  Melanie says that he told her lots of things, but Lindsay insists that she has the right to know.  Melanie tells her that there was nothing; Colin has just put a bug in her ear.  Lindsay tells Melanie that she is a terrible liar and it’s just like when they were kids at Christmas and Melanie hid part of her presents.  She accuses Melanie of knowing about another will, money or stock and Melanie insists that it isn’t true.  She wants to know what Melanie knows that she doesn’t.

The Station House

Bo tells Nora that he’s not giving up and she agrees that he shouldn’t.  She admits that she was hoping that he would, hoping that her ex husband couldn’t get along without her.  She admits, however, that it is a dream.  It was real once upon a time, but isn’t now.  She admits that she didn’t want to give up the most romantic dream she’s ever dreamed; the stuff legends are made of.  “Once upon a time,” Bo agrees.  She tells him that she was waiting for the hurt and it didn’t come and asks Bo if he thinks she could be over him.  He apologizes again and she asks if he would prefer the alternative.  He tells her that he wants her to be happy no matter what .  She wants the same for him and she is sure that Melanie will come around.  She adds that her head has caught up to her heart and she knows that she is in for a future without Bo Buchanan.  He says that there will always be a connection – a love between them.  Nora hopes that there will always be friendship and that they will argue and laugh as friends.  He thinks that they will.  She likes that idea and tells him that she does love him.  He tells her that he loves her too and will always be in her life, as he gives her a hug.

Melanie’s Office

Lindsay says that Melanie has admitted that she has a secret. Melanie tells her that it is all in her head and there is no money involved.  Lindsay threatens her and Melanie wonders what she’ll do; she thinks she’s acting like a 10-year-old.  Sam comes in on that comment and says he thinks it’s more like a six-year-old.  Lindsay tells him that they are discussing family business.  Sam thinks that she must be a pretty busy girl since she is up to her eyeballs in renovation at the gallery and using the money she got from Will.  She tells him that that is between Will and her.  She then says that she needs to leave, but tells Melanie that things are not over.

Melanie asks Sam what money he was talking about and Sam tells her that it came from Asa and he intends to get to the bottom of it.  She wonders if Sam was looking for her. He says that he was – as a friend, a lawyer, and an ex brother-in-law.  He tells her that he knows Bo proposed and she wonders if it was posted online.  He smiles, saying that Bo is upset. He also asks her if she knows that Bo is having her investigated; it seems that he’s not too sure that her reasons for not marrying him are on the up and up.  He adds that Bo loves her.  She says that she loves him, too.  Sam asks if she needs his help or if there is anything she’d like to tell him as a friend.  She shakes her head, telling Sam that she just isn’t ready.  She just got out of the mess with Colin and she needs time and Bo will have to understand that.

Will’s Loft

Jess has gone back to working on her paper.  Will comes in and tells her that he thinks he’s getting good at this CEO stuff; his meeting went well.  She’s glad that he’s home; he’s more fun than the wife of Bath.  She grabs the camcorder and starts to film him and he tells her that she’ll need to find a more worthy subject.  She then pops the tape into the VCR, which reveals footage of the two of them making love. Will stands up and takes off his jacket, telling Jess that she is as hot in front of the camera as she is behind it and asks her if she’d like to work with him on making a sequel.  As she kisses him she tells him that she’ll work on a storyline for part two.

Dorian’s

Sophia rereads Joey’s email to Kelly, asking herself why he was so desperate and saying she thought he had let go.  By chance, she checks the time and realizes that Joey was with her when the message was sent.

Cherry Vale

Melanie talks with a nurse in the hall about a patient and then enters her office to find Nora there waiting.

Colin’s

Colin opens the armoire where he has built Nora’s “shrine”.  He examines the articles and then takes out a lock of hair.  The doorbell rings and he locks up and goes to answer it.

He finds Lindsay at the door, demanding to know Melanie’s secret.  He quips that since the two sisters are so close, he is surprised that Melanie hasn’t told her and then adds that he will tell her for a price.  She tells him that there will be no more blackmail, but he says that she needs to talk to her son; he is out to ruin him.  She says that Will is just a boy, but Colin tells her to look again. He is a man and has learned from her.  He offers her the information she wants, but tells her that it won’t come cheap.

The Station House

One of the officers invites Roseanne out for a drink, but she tells him that she has plans.  To herself, she comments that those plans are ‘hot, hot, hot’ and smiles.  The phone rings and it is Sophia.  Sophia tells her that she has to get word to Antonio to meet her in the parking lot at Lantano Mountain. It is an emergency.  Roseanne hangs up the phone and says that she won’t let Sophia ruin their night and leaves.

Lantano Mountain

Kelly has arrived at the mountain and is calling out for Joey.  When she gets to the tree, Mr. Gray is hiding and waiting.
