ONE LIFE TO LIVE RECAP FOR WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 2001

<<< BACK TO RECAPS  INDEX

Sophia and Antonio enter the warehouse with their guns drawn. They point
them at a man whose back is to them, and order him to freeze. They’re
stunned when he turns – it’s Cristian. The officers lower their guns. Cris
taunts his brother and Sophia offers to take over, but Antonio is the one
who begins to read Cristian his rights. RJ arrives and berates Sophia and
Antonio for interfering with his liquor delivery. Sophia and Antonio are
dismayed to discover that the boxes contain nothing more than bottles of
alcohol. Antonio vows to find out who tipped RJ off.

Antonio and Cristian argue about the latter’s job. Cris won’t talk to his
brother, and RJ orders Antonio to take the cuffs off Cris. The officers head
for the door, but RJ won’t let them go that easily. He requests an apology.
Antonio, reaching for his gun, suggests that he first needs to “do something
I’ll really have to apologize for.” Sophia quickly stops him and apologizes
for both of them. She ushers her partner out. Alone with his boss, Cris
expresses his relief at not being busted, and asks how RJ knew to switch the
cargo. “What you don’t know, you don’t know,” RJ replies. He adds that
Cristian’s loyalty was tested, and he passed, but he needs to remember that
tests “always get harder.”

Roseanne is alone in her hotel room when she hears a knock at the door. It’s
Colin, who pushes his way in. Despite Roseanne’s best efforts, he won’t
leave. She informs Colin that she and Antonio are back together and that
things are good. Colin simply smiles and suggests that he can provide her
with comfort on all those long nights when Antonio is working. He hears the
water running, and offers to join Roseanne in the shower. “I’m going to shut
it off, and then you’re leaving,” is her curt reply. “We’ll see about that,”
Colin mutters, as he begins to unbutton his shirt. He approaches Roseanne,
who orders that he not touch her. She threatens to call the police. “That’s
a great idea! Then I can tell them who’s RJ’s spy at the Llanview Police
Department,” Colin exclaims. Roseanne’s face pales.

Jen sits, stone faced, at Break Bar. She complains to the bartender about
Cris having to leave. He urges her to drink up, and she’ll soon feel no
pain. Jen moves the glass to her lips just as Will and Jessica enter. Will
threatens to kill Cris for serving his sister. Jen tells Will to lay off
Cris – after all, he’s not even there. The siblings argue. Will is stunned
when Jen brings up Colin’s name, and admits that she went to see him. Jen
asks Will, point blank, if Lindsay kidnapped Nora. Will changes the subject,
but Jen won’t let it go. She knows him well enough to realize that he’s
hiding something. When he refuses to divulge it, she storms out. Jessica
observes that, instead of jumping to his mom’s defense, Will was
suspiciously silent. He shrugs it off, and the conversation moves to Jen.
Will is worried that she’s upset, and has no one to turn to. Jess assures
him that he’s being a good brother, and that Jen will be able to take care
of herself.

Meanwhile, Jen sits on a park bench, alone. She pulls a bottle of vodka out
of her purse. As Colin’s hurtful words echo in her head, she begins to
drink. A short time later, the bottle is empty. Jen passes out on the cold
ground.

Cris returns to Break Bar. Will is instantly on his case about Jen being
served a drink. Cris determines from the other bartender that she had a fake
ID. Knowing the state she was in when she came to the bar, he rushes out to
find her.

“Go away,” Skye practically spits at Rae, but Ms. Cummings won’t leave. Skye
insists that Adam and Althea Chandler are her parents. Rae agrees that they
were, “in the ways that matter the most,” but she can prove that she brought
Skye into the world. Skye is not interested in anything Rae has to say. Rae
vows that, if Skye won’t listen to her, she’ll follow her around until she
does. Skye finally agrees to hear Rae out. Rae shows Skye the original page
from the Bible, and goes on to explain how she became pregnant as a
teenager. Given that this was an embarrassment to the people who raised her,
Rae was hidden away during her pregnancy, then told her child died at birth.
It was only recently that she discovered the truth, and she was devastated,
Rae admits to Skye. Daniel told her he’d help her, Rae adds, but he robbed
her and taunted her instead. Rae outlines how the Bible page finally came
into her possession. She hands the paper to Skye, who stares at it, but
refuses to believe the evidence before her. She accuses Rae of being so
desperate for a child that she’s made the entire story up. “This isn’t going
to go away, and neither am I,” Rae declares. Rae reminds Skye of the time
she and Myrtle came to see Skye. They were going to tell her the truth then,
but she was so angry that they decided against it. Rae insists that she’s
not trying to replace Skye’s family. After all, she has a father who loves
her. “You bet he does,” Skye responds, vehemently. She promises that Adam
will destroy Rae when he finds out about her scheme. “My father doesn’t
steal babies,” Skye asserts. Rae counters that she never said that, and that
she’d actually like to speak to Adam, in order to clear all of this up.

Skye orders Rae to stay away from her and her family. As she turns to leave,
Rae asks if she’s going to be alright. “You mean, am I going to drink?” Skye
retorts. “Are you?” Rae queries, clearly concerned. “Drop dead, mommy,” Skye
mutters sarcastically. She exits, and Rae cries.

Out in the hallway, Skye manages to reach Adam. She begs him to come to
Llanview. People are out to get her and are saying that she’s not his
daughter, she reveals. Adam informs her that he’s got a problem with Junior,
and he’ll get there when he can. Skye is crestfallen.

At the aborted wedding, Todd reiterates that Max is not Asa’s son. Bo
reminds Todd that fraud is a serious charge, and he’d better have proof of
what he’s saying. He does, Todd responds, and hands over the disk containing
the computer virus. He explains that Blair knew all about the con, and had
planned on exposing Max, but she changed her mind. Asa refuses to believe
Todd’s words, and he and Max turn to go. Bo stops them, then turns to Blair
and asks her to clear things up. Blair insists that everything Todd has just
said is a lie. She defends Max as someone who truly loves Asa, and Ben
chimes in that Max did pass a DNA test. Asa bristles at the mere sound of
Ben’s voice, and Renee intercedes to calm him down. Blair decides to turn
the tables, as she accuses Todd of shooting Max. No one believes her, and
she soon falls silent again. Todd berates her for taking Max’s side once
more.

Bo, beginning to have his doubts about his ‘brother’, muses aloud about how
Max’s focus was always on Asa, never on the rest of the family. That worries
him, Bo adds, and he asks Max to convince him of his identity. Max takes
umbrage at this, and is bolstered by Asa, who doesn’t buy Todd’s tale. Todd
urges those in the crowd who know the truth to speak up. “Alright, who wants
to go first?” he queries. He proceeds to put Sam, Viki and Ben on the spot.
Viki pleads with him to stop, counseling him that hurting others won’t ease
whatever pain he’s feeling. “I’ll get back to you on that,” he retorts, as
he then singles out Renee. “Leave her alone,” Ben orders. Todd ignores him
and asks Renee why she remained loyal to Max, even though she knew he was
not her son. “You tell this belly-crawling liar the truth,” Asa demands, as
Renee takes a deep breath. “Let’s not discuss this here,” she pleads, but
Asa won’t budge. He insists she tell him if Max is their child. Renee
finally admits that, “no, Max is not our son.” Max continues to feign
ignorance as Renee attempts to explain to Asa why she didn’t tell him –
first, there was Max’s aneurysm, then Asa’s heart attack… Bo and Kevin
immediately accuse Max of running a con and merely being interested in Asa’s
money. “I almost forgot the best part,” Todd interjects. Sam tries to quiet
him. “What, and leave without the happy ending?” Ben and Viki exchange
worried glances as Todd quips to Renee that, even though she’s just lost one
son, “I can get you a new one.” Hesitantly, Renee approaches Todd. “You know
who my son is?” Todd grins, as Ben looks stricken.

“Please, Todd. Please don’t do this,” Viki begs. Todd is not moved by his
sister’s pleas. Asa steps up and insists that he and Ben know who the real
son is. “You know?” Ben whispers, shock registering on his face. He breathes
a sigh of relief when Asa reiterates that it’s Max. Sensing his chance, Max
accuses Ben of trying to play divide and conquer. Fed up with Max, Renee
intervenes. She wants the truth, she declares. Todd gleefully prepares to
tell it. Sam and Ben consider dragging Todd out of the room, but Bo won’t
allow it. Renee, at the end of her rope, pleads with them to “let him talk.”
“Your son – oh, and your brother – is closer than you think. In fact, he’s
in this very room right now,” Todd reveals. All eyes are upon him as he
faces Renee. “You wanna meet him?”
