ONE LIFE TO LIVE RECAP FOR MONDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2001

<<< BACK TO RECAPS  INDEX

The Gallery

Colin saunters in, calling out, “Lindsay, I’m home!”  He doesn’t see her right away and is puzzled, calling out that he thought she had summoned him there to pay him.  As he turns back toward the door, he sees Lindsay, with an extremely large pair of scissors, which she is holding like a knife.  She tells him that she has been thinking and going over things in her mind since the last time she talked to him and has figured out how to keep him from seducing her daughter.

Sam’s Place

Jen opens the door to find Melanie, who tells her that she’d like to hear everything about Europe.  Jen tells her that she is surprised that she is there in Llanview and that she is even talking to her mother, after she and Colin betrayed her.  Melanie tells her that her mother is human, and everyone makes mistakes.  Jen reveals that she knows her mother has made another mistake, too.  When Melanie questions her, Jen explains that nobody will give her the details, but she saw “uncle” Colin and she is sure that it had something to do with her mother, Colin and Nora’s kidnapping.  Melanie points out that Colin in not fond of Lindsay and would say anything about her.

The Palace

Things are set up for the wedding and the reception.  Max is helping himself to the food and slides his wedding ring off his finger.  Nora enters and greets him, after which, Bo joins them.   Max tells Bo that he is surprised to see him there, but Bo points out the John thought that something might “happen” and thought he should come.  “Other than the dastardly duo getting married?” Nora quips.  Bo asks if they know anything and Nora points out that Max does, but he’s not talking and neither is her client, for that matter.  Bo asks Max if he’d like to share, but Max declines, saying that he’d love to, but is merely there as a spectator – just like they are.

Skye tells Max that she’s worried.  She wonders why nothing has happened.  Max tells her that today is the day that Todd will finger Blair.

Upstairs, Kelly and Blair enter Blair’s room with the bouquets.  Kelly asks where Starr is and Blair tells her that she’s not coming.  Kelly is puzzled and Blair explains that Todd said that Starr had had some sort of tantrum and had refused to come, which puzzles Kelly even further.  Blair adds that Todd didn’t want to put things off and neither did she.

There is a knock at the door and Sam asks to speak with Blair alone; Kelly obliges and leaves the room.  He states that he knows this is not the best time to discuss this, but he’d like to know something.  Todd has told him that he did something for her that she didn’t appreciate enough.  When Blair asks what Sam is implying, he asks if she had Todd shoot Max.  “Absolutely not!” she replies.  He then asks her if she shot Max and Todd “cleaned” it up.

Todd is downstairs waiting for the ceremony to begin.  Viki and Ben enter and Ben leaves her to talk with Todd alone.  She sees that Todd is on edge and asks him if he is ok.  “Great,” he answers sarcastically.  She tells him that she knows how he feels; she was sure that she wanted to marry Ben, too, but she was still nervous.  He tells her that she should have been nervous; there was a hit out on Ben.  Viki asks Todd if he’s planning on going through with the wedding.

Blair insists to Sam that she did not shoot Max and had nothing to do with it, nor did Todd.  Sam explains that he knows how important this marriage is to Todd and the lengths he went to get Blair.  She tells Sam that Todd didn’t go to any “lengths”; there was no blackmail.  This marriage is about love – period!  Sam responds that he knows that Todd has done awful things in the name of love, but Blair tells him to give her a little credit.  She has known Todd a long time and probably knows him better than Sam does.  He may do crazy things, and so does she, but they are sane together; they belong together.  Sam asks if that is enough for a marriage.  Blair retorts that they love each other and if that’s not a good enough reason, too bad.

Todd asks Viki about the “trust” that she is always talking about and what happens when it is broken.  He wonders if it can be fixed, or if it just shrivels up and dies.  She tells him that trust can be regained and he wonders if it has happened to her.  Viki assures him that it has and asks him if something has happened. He tells her that it has been broken like a twig, but he’ll get over it.  She tells him not to “get over” it, but to fix it, instead.  He needs to deal with his doubts and take care of them and should talk to Blair before going further.

Kelly comes into the room and finds Max, telling him that he needs to leave Blair alone. She was wrong to ask for his help.  When Kevin chimes in, Max asks if he has turned into a gossip columnist, adding that he will leave her alone.  He won’t interfere any more than he has.

Rae, who has just arrived, meets up with Nora in the ladies room.  She tells Nora that she is surprised to see her there, since she knows how she feels about Todd and adds that she feels the same way.  When she got the invitation, her first impulse was to burn it and dance on the ashes, but John feels that something might happen today, something that could even have an effect on Skye.  Nora looks a bit surprised and Rae continues, asking about Skye’s upcoming trial.  Nora is quick to tell her that she cannot talk about her client’s case, nor will she speculate.  Rae nods and then asks if she is planning to put Skye on the stand, getting no response from Nora.  Rae says that she knows that there is a heart somewhere inside of Skye; she is just hard pressed to find it at the moment.  She is so abrasive and harsh, which Rae feels is something she uses to hide her insecurities, but she is actually her own worst enemy.  At that, Skye comes storming out of one of the stalls and tells Rae that she is, in fact, her worst enemy and calls her a miserable, meddling crone.

Sam’s Place

Jen tells Melanie that he has to know if her mother was involved in the kidnapping.  Melanie doesn’t think that she is the best person for Jen to be talking to about this, but Jen argues that she is her last hope; she came home for her family, but they are all at each other’s throats and she doesn’t know how to make it stop.  Melanie tells her that it is not her job to do that, but Jen thinks it is and says that she deserves to know the truth.

The Gallery

Lindsay, still holding the scissors, tells Colin that it’s bad enough that her son hates her and that he is stealing her finances.  She is going to see that he never lays a hand on her daughter.  Colin grabs the scissors, putting Lindsay in a chokehold.  He tells her that she is not going to hurt him, in fact, she’d better hope that he has a long, healthy life; otherwise his letter will go out to Bo and Sam and she’ll have to pay.  She states that she’d rather spend her life in prison that let him near Jen.  Colin reminds her that if the truth comes out, Jen will know, too.  She tells him that she’ll worry about Jen and he chides that she have worried about her before.  She tells Colin to get out, and he complies, telling her that she has until the end of the month to come up with his money and reminding her that February only has 28 days.

The Palace

In the ladies room, Rae tells Skye that she is not her enemy; she is on her side.  Skye throws Rae’s previous comments back at her and their voices escalate.  Rae tells her that she should think before she opens her mouth and that this is not a good time for her to be pushing “allies” away.  Nora “breaks up” the discussion, telling Skye that she cannot be provoked by comments.  Her little outbursts stick in people’s minds.  She tells Rae that she will not talk to her about her client, and after today she doesn’t way Rae talking to her either.  Skye says that she’ll make that easy for Rae and leaves.  Once she is gone, Nora asks what that was all about.  Rae tells her that it doesn’t matter; it won’t happen again.  And Skye is right; she has no business interfering, no matter how noble her motives.  She is through.  Rae leaves a confused Nora to contemplate the situation.

Max sees Skye and asks if she is ok.  She asks what he thinks and tells him to get her out of this lousy mess.  She wants to leave town and get away from Rae.  Max tells her she can’t leave town; once this is resolved, they need to work on their relationship.  Skye is concerned that Todd won’t name Blair, but Max assures her that they have pulled it off.  Skye wonders what Todd is waiting for, and Max admits that he doesn’t understand either, but he knows that Todd is going to blow.  Skye asks him how well he knows Todd.

Blair is sitting in front of the mirror and putting on make-up, when she notices Todd in the reflection.  She tells him that she can’t believe he couldn’t wait until she walked down the aisle.  He tells her that he couldn’t and that this is her last chance.  “Last chance for what?” she wants to know.  He tells her that it’s her last chance to back out; he’d rather she did it here than downstairs in front of a bunch of people.  She asks Todd how insecure one man can be and tells him that she has no intention of backing out and wonders if he does.  He wonders why he would; they have every reason to get married and he can trust her.  She tells him that he can.  They’ve been through so much and they are getting married because they love each other.  Todd tells her that he thought she loved Max. She explains that she thought she did, but she really married Max for his money; it was all an illusion.  She asks if Todd is still upset that Max tried to make a pass at her.  He wonders why Blair lied to him and didn’t tell him that Max was there.  She says that it was nothing, merely a champagne toast.  “That’s all?  How do I know?” he asks.  She tells him that he can believe what she tells him.  She doesn’t love Max; she loves him and promises him that they will be happy.  Todd turns to leave and tells her that he will see her in front of the judge.

Asa and Renee enter and see Ben and Viki.  Asa loudly mentions that this will be a day of reckoning; they will find out for sure who shot Max, as he glares at Ben.  Renee reminds him that Max, himself, told him that it wasn’t Ben who shot him.  As Asa storms off, Renee apologizes to Ben and Viki, saying that he has become so sensitive that maybe she should move back in.  When Ben disagrees, Asa wonders if he wants to get rid of her so there won’t be any witnesses when he goes after Max.  Asa calls Bo over and continues his rant, and Max pulls him away, promising to take care of it.

Nora approaches Bo, stating that Max said there would be fireworks, but she didn’t think they would start so early.  Bo tells her that he is worried about Asa and thinks maybe he should see a doctor.  Nora agrees, and then notes the odd assortment of adversaries in the room, telling him that it gives her the creeps.  She then quips that if anything happens, it won’t be her fault; wrecking one wedding a year is her limit.  Bo has to smile as she walks away.

Sam’s Place

Jen asks again about the secret and Melanie says that she doesn’t know the details.  At that point, Lindsay walks in and asks Melanie if she is trying to turn her daughter against her.  Jen tells her that she is looking for the truth. Lindsay asks when she is going back to Switzerland and warns her that she needs to stay away from Colin because he is dangerous.  “To me or to you?” Jen snaps and leaves.  Lindsay tells Melanie that they need to keep Colin away from Jen, and Melanie wonders why and says that she wants to help.  Lindsay tells her that she can’t believe her, since she is hiding some big family secret that involves their father and for which Colin wants her to pay.  Melanie can’t believe that Colin wants money from Lindsay, too.  She says that they need to get together and stop Colin.

Colin’s

Colin opens his front door to find Jen and invites her in.

The Palace

Sam asks Todd if he was expecting more guests.  Todd retorts that Madonna and Sam Donaldson sent their regrets, and Sam points out that there are a lot of empty seats.  Todd tells him that that is the way he planned it; he just wanted it to be family and a few “special” friends.  The organist approaches Todd, asking him if he’s sure of his selection of music.  Todd assures him that he is and the music, which seems more appropriate for a funeral, begins.  Todd smiles and the guests take their seats.

Skye tells Max that she can’t believe it is actually happening.

Bo sits behind John and Rae, saying that so far this looks like ever other wedding to him.  “Yeah, so far,” John stresses.

Todd tells Sam that it’s time to get started. “Here goes nothing,” Sam says as he walks away.  “No.  Here goes everything,” Todd smiles to himself.

Blair and Kelly come down the aisle and Todd reaches out to Blair and takes her hand, telling her that it’s show time.

As the ceremony begins, Skye tells Max that she can’t believe that they’re really going through with it.  He tells her to sit back and watch.

The judge asks is there is just cause for anyone to protest the marriage.  Everyone looks around.  “Here it comes,” Max tells Skye.

Todd wonders if everyone is waiting for a lightning bolt and then the judge continues, stating that Todd and Blair have written their own vows.

Blair begins, making a heartfelt speech to Todd about how things look the same, but feel different.  She tells him that he is the only person she can truly rely on and all she wants to do is to prove how much she loves him, saying that she intends to do that every day of her life.

Todd begins to speak, saying that Blair is right.  They know each other better than any other two people; they cannot lie and deceive each other.  They have been through a lot, but today that will all be behind them and they will have a new beginning.  He vows that he will always surprise her.

As the judge begins the vows and starts with Todd, Todd interrupts and says that “ladies” should go first.  Blair takes her vows, as she and Todd hold hands.  When the judge asks Todd if he will take Blair as his wife, he pulls away from her, saying, “Hell no!  She shot her last husband in the back!”
