ONE LIFE TO LIVE RECAP FOR MONDAY, APRIL 2, 2001

<<< BACK TO RECAPS  INDEX

The Party

Jess trips and falls, and as she pulls herself up, she sees a hand sticking out of the dirt. She backs away in terror. When she feels a hand on her shoulder, she screams.

Cris and Jen are talking by the fire. He leans in to kiss her and she asks him if he can hold it for a minute. He backs off and asks if something is wrong, and Jen wonders if he doesn’t want to kiss her. He tells her that he does, but not if she doesn’t want him too. She tells him that he could at least act disappointed.

Roseanne’s Hotel Room

Antonio asks Roseanne where she has gotten this kind of money. She tells him that he wouldn’t believe her if she told him, but Antonio tells her to try him. She says that she has gotten the money from Tea, and, in fact, Antonio does not believe her. He asks what she needed the money for, and she tells him that it was to pay off Colin. Antonio think that this whole story just keeps getting better and better.

Sam’s Place

Sam finds Nora at his door and invites her in. He sees that something is bothering her today. “Someone,” she points out. Sam wonders if it might be the officer that has followed her inside. Nora tells him that the officer isn’t a problem; he’s a doll. Sam asks Officer Doll if he might wait outside, and when he has left, Nora tells Sam that Lindsay is the problem. Sam wonders what she has done now, and Nora tells him that he won’t believe it. She finds a textbook that he has been reading and he explains that he is brushing up on homicide law.

The Palace

Melanie is sitting alone at a table, waiting for Bo. The waiter arrives with champagne a note from the Commissioner. She reads the note, which tells her to look under the chair, and when she does, she finds a “Bomb Squad” hat, which she promptly places on her head with a smile. She’s looking at herself in her mirror when Bo comes in and tells her that it is definitely her; she has earned it. She tells him that he really knows how to show a woman a good time, and he laughs, saying that he’s checked the place out and there will be no explosions this evening. No sooner do the words leave his mouth, then Lindsay walks in the door, and he thinks that maybe he has spoken too soon.

Melanie’s “identical to Nora” conscience turns up, asking her if it wouldn’t be wiser to be out looking for Colin’s letters, instead of having a nice, calm dinner. Lindsay insists that Colin is alive and the letters are in a “safe” place. “Sure he is,” her conscience quips.

The Party

The hand on Jessica’s shoulder turns out to be Will’s. She takes him back to the mound she has found and shows him the hand sticking out. Will takes a closer look, pulling back some kind a tarp, and revealing Colin’s face.

Jen thinks she may go for a little stroll. Cris is rather confused, noting that she mentioned being frightened earlier. She explains that there were similar woods near her school in Switzerland, and the girls would venture in to meet the boys from a nearby school. She tells him that she never know what they were meeting each other for, but that maybe tonight will be the night to find out. Cris watches her as she walks away.

The Palace

Melanie asks Bo if they are making cell phones smaller these days; it looks like Lindsay is talking to herself. He says that he doesn’t know, but whoever she is talking to, he’d like to thank them because they are keeping her busy. He tells Melanie that he would like to thank her, again, for diffusing the bomb. She smiles, telling him that her motives were purely selfish. Bo laughs, saying that he doesn’t mind going to pieces over her, but he wouldn’t want to do it like that. Melanie comments that he has nerves of steel; she doesn’t think he’d ever goes to pieces. He says that he noticed that she was very focused and for the first time in a long time, she wasn’t obsessing about Colin. She tries to cover, by saying that everyone has been obsessing about him, but Bo tells her that he thinks he knows what has got her so upset.

Lindsay tells her conscience that Colin is just missing and nobody knows about Nora. “You mean what you did to Nora,” her conscience reminds her. Lindsay says that she will not feel guilty, but her conscience points out that she already does; if she didn’t the conscience wouldn’t be hanging around. It’s quite funny actually, you spent so much time trying to get into Nora’s conscience and now Nora is in yours.

The waiter approaches Lindsay and asks if there is a problem. She tells him that there isn’t; she just loves waiting for a table. As he shows her to her table, she asks him for a double vodka and tonic. Her conscience tells her to make it a triple and recommends the lobster. Lindsay points out that Colin has merely disappeared, which, her conscience notes, she has been going around and telling everybody. She tells Lindsay that he will eventually be declared dead if they don’t find him and the letters will come up anyway, pointing out that she is not out of the woods yet.

Sam’s Place

Nora is surprised that Sam would be using these cases in his defense of Blair, saying that she, herself, had more in common with the defendant. Sam quickly changes the subject and asks her to tell him about Lindsay. She tells him about going to Rae’s to be hypnotized, Rae’s having to leave the room and Lindsay’s slipping in. She tells him that Lindsay tried to edit her “id”, telling her that they were the best of friends and that she was innocent of everything. Sam has to admit that that is novel, even for Lindsay and has to laugh. She explains that she acted like she was five and even quacked like a duck, all in the hopes that Lindsay would incriminate herself - but she didn’t do it. She then tells him that she has known something for a while and she needs to share it with Sam. She thinks that Will knows what Lindsay did to her.

The Party

Jess recognizes Colin’s face, and is disgusted that she was on the ground next to his body. Will says that now nobody will have to worry about Colin anymore. Jess starts to leave to get her cell phone from the car, but Will stops her saying that they need to think for a minute. What they do next could change everything.

Roseanne’s Hotel Room

Antonio wants to hear Roseanne’s story again. If she heard from Tea, he wants to know where she is. Roseanne explains that she doesn’t want anybody to know, but that she checks in with her periodically. She sent her the money to pay Colin off. Antonio tells her that, cop or no cop, he’d cut Colin’s heart out if he hadn’t disappeared. They are interrupted by RJ banging at the door.

The Palace

Bo tells Melanie that he isn’t asking her this as a cop, but as a friend and the man that plans of marrying her. She tells him that she likes the way he plans. Bo mentions that although Colin has disappeared, he still has a hold on Melanie. She denies it at first, but then admits that he is like a bomb to her, she never knew if he would go off and jeopardize their relationship. Bo asks if she gave Colin the necklace from her father that she told him she had lost.

Lindsay’s conscience tells her that she could be wrong, and that Asa could even take up ballet. “Why do you keep bothering me?” Lindsay demands, and the poor waiter tells her that he has brought her her vodka and tonic. She apologizes, and when he leaves, she tells her conscience that she wants her out of her head. Her conscience understands that; she also wants to get rid of Colin, what she did to Nora, and what Bo will do you her when he finds out what she did to Nora. It must be awful to have all that dread and fear and the not being able to eat or sleep. She suggests skipping the food and going straight to the wine list. Lindsay tells her conscience to go away, which she does, but when she turns she finds her standing beside her with a syringe full of mind-erasing drug. She offers it to Lindsay, compliments of the house.

The Party

Will reiterates to Jess that they need to figure things out. She tells him that Colin is dead and they need to call Bo, but he tells her that he won’t be any more dead if they wait. Jen comes walking into the clearing and hears Will’s voice. She calls out to him.

The Palace

Bo mentions to Melanie that Lindsay has been acting strange all evening, and Melanie comments that he is now worried about her and her sister. He says that he is not worried about her; he is worried for her; he wants to take her fear away. Melanie dotes that his love is all the courage she needs. She tells him that she did give Colin the necklace; she gave him whatever he asked for and was willing to do whatever it took to get rid of him.

Lindsay tells her conscience to get away from her. But she points out that the drug is a “fabulous year”, although she can’t remember what that year was. Lindsay tells her that she is just in her head, and the conscience agrees, telling her to think how frightened she would be if she were really standing there with that syringe in her hand. When her conscience calls her a monster, Lindsay tells her that she’ll find a way to shut her up. She gets up and marches over to Bo and Melanie’s table and asks if she can join them.

Sam’s Place

Nora apologizes to Sam, but he tells her not to. He has had the same feelings about Will knowing something for quite some time. He tells her about the family dinner that they were to have when Jen arrived and how Will and Lindsay didn’t show up. Nora remembers seeing Will that night and how troubled he seemed. She says that she didn’t want to push him; she wanted him to be able to live with himself and “herself”. Sam points out that that was the second time that Nora had passed over justice to for son’s sake, the first time being with Colin’s confession. She admits that she must have been soft in the head at the time, but Sam thinks that she was soft in the heart. Sam says that Colin has really taken a toll on his family, that he altered the whole course of Jen’s life by making her think that she was responsible for the divorce. He tells Nora that he hated Colin for that and wanted him dead. Nora points out that he altered the course of many lives, including hers and Sam’s. She asks Sam if she loved him and he tells her that she did, adding that he loved her back.

The Party

Will asks Jen what she is doing there and she tells him that it is, after all, a free forest. She wonders if she was interrupting something. Trying to cover, Will tells her that she was and says that he and Jess want to be alone. Jen is a bit angry, telling him that she knows when she is not wanted. As she turns to leave, she sees Colin.

Roseanne’s Hotel Room

RJ yells through the door that he knows that Roseanne is there and he wants her to open up. She quickly gathers a wad a bills from the bed, opens the door and shoves them at RJ, telling him that that is the money she owes him and that he can call her if there isn’t enough. RJ plays along. Roseanne begs Antonio to leave RJ alone, but he won’t. He tells RJ about the note that he got before Colin’s party and that he knows all about his illegal activities. RJ wonders if that is why he is still walking around free, telling him that Colin didn’t know “jack” and neither does he. He reminds Antonio that if he isn’t careful, he could lose his badge on a harassment charge. Once he has gone, Antonio criticizes Roseanne for lying to him again.

Sam’s Place

Nora asks Sam if she can try something to see if she can remember, and he tells her to try anything she wants. She promises that it won’t hurt and leans over to kiss him. Sam asks her if she had any luck, and she smiles, saying that his lips have a certain déjà vu` . He tells her that that is a start, but she is sorry that a kiss can’t help her remember giving birth to Matthew. They joke about the blizzard and whether or not he really carried her through the snow, and Sam tells her that he would do it again if he thought it would help her remember. Nora tells Sam that she does remember their friendship; she can feel the warmth. She just wishes that she could remember it all. He tells her that maybe she should stop trying so hard; if the memories are going to come back, they will, and all anybody really has is today, anyway. Nora agrees, but says that she was supposed to be having her today with him. Sam says that they still do have each other; their love is just different now. The one thing that hasn’t changed, though, is Matthew. Nora tells Sam how much she is missing him right now, and he suggests that she go to Chicago and get him, instead of hanging around Llanview, waiting for something to happen and driving herself crazy. Nora smiles, saying that Sam is still thinking for her. He tells her that old habits are hard to break and gently kisses her again.

The Party

Jess tells Jen that she and Will just found Colin like this. Jen panics and asks what is going to happen to them. Cris comes looking for Jen and asks what’s going on. He looks at all of their startled faces and then turns to see Colin.

Roseanne’s Hotel Room

Antonio is certain that Roseanne hasn’t heard from Tea at all. She admits that she hasn’t and tells him that she borrowed the money from RJ to pay off Colin. Antonio wonders what else is going on, but she tells him that there is nothing. She has given the money back to RJ and it is over. Antonio asks her what “the truth” means to her; he wonders if is its anything that’s real, or just anything that works. Roseanne doesn’t know what to say, and he leaves in an angry huff..

RJ returns and wonders if she came up with an explanation for all of the money. She tells him that Antonio isn’t stupid and he’ll find out what is going on; RJ should do himself a favor and let her out. He agrees and Roseanne looks relieved, but he then adds that she is out after one more really big job.

The Palace

Bo tells Lindsay that it’s really not a good time for a social call. “So much for your sterling reputation as a gentleman,” she quips, then asks Melanie if she is going to let Bo speak for her. Melanie says that she can speak for herself and tells Lindsay that it is a terrible time for a social call. Lindsay is offended and gets up to leave, but criticizes Bo first, pointing out that both Melanie and Nora have police protection and she doesn’t.

Nora enters the restaurant, with Officer “Doll” close behind. She tells him that she needs to go to the ladies room - alone - and would then like to have dinner by herself. She jokingly tells him that she’ll name her next child after him, however.

Bo tells Lindsay that just because she doesn’t see a cop, doesn’t mean that she hasn’t been assigned one. She asks him if she is being tailed and says that he is treating her like a common criminal. Bo tells her that there is nothing common about her, and she storms away. Melanie asks Bo if someone is really following Lindsay, and he says that there are some things that not even the Bomb Squad knows.

Lindsay has returned to her table, where the waiter suggest another vodka tonic or two and the house special. Nora joins her at her table and greets her. When Lindsay doesn’t answer, she asks if her conscience has got her tongue. Lindsay asks if she’ll be left in peace if she comes clean, then says “I did it! I did it!”

The Party

Cris asks what happened and Jess tells him that they found Colin like this. He asks what they should to, and Will says that maybe they should just kick the dirt back over him and forget he ever lived.
