Lindsay’s

Asa has come to see Lindsay and hands her an envelope saying, “It’s all there and don’t ever bother me again.  We are done.”  Lindsay smiles and tells him that she hopes so and to have a nice night.  He tells her that he was wrong about her sister; she is not a Lindsay clone.  She is nothing like her and has real blood flowing through her veins.  Lindsay comments on how easily fooled men are, but that Bo won’t be; he’ll see Melanie for what she really is.  Asa tells Lindsay that her sisterly love is “damn touching”.  Lindsay says that she feels for her sister – falling hard for Bo with Nora in the picture.  Asa finds that amusing and Lindsay wants to know why.  He tells her that she’ll find out soon enough and he’d like to be around to see the look on her face.

The Station House

Bo is sitting in his office, smiling. He pulls a ring box out of his box and examines the contents, placing in carefully back in his pocket.  He then goes out to talk to his officers,  informing them about the upcoming evening.  He tells them that anything can happen and he is counting on them to head off trouble; he has a wonderful evening planned for himself.  Sophia tells him that they’ll do their best.  He tells her that he is sure that they will, telling them to be safe and wishing them a happy New Year.  One of their fellow officers asks Sophia and Antonio if they have plans for later.   She says that she might check out a few parties, while Antonio admits that he hasn’t really thought about it yet.  Roseanne shows up and greets Antonio, who tells her that he thought they had agreed that she wouldn’t just stop by.  She informs him that she is there for a job interview.

In his office, Bo calls Melanie and tells her that he has to cover things at the station for a bit, but he’ll be free as a bird later and promises to see her before midnight.  She tells him that she understands that disasters do occur and if he can’t make it, she’ll understand.  He tells her that he’ll be there no matter what; he has all his best people working tonight.  She hesitates for a moment and asks him if they are still taking things one day at a time.  He says that they are and that today is the last day of this year and tomorrow is the first day of next year and he plans on spending them with her; there is nothing they can’t face together and they are going to take things one day at a time until they can’t imagine not facing everything together.

Kelly and Kevin come in and Bo informs them that they are waiting for a picture to be faxed for Kelly to identify.  Kelly is excited and wonders if this will be the one.  Kevin tells her that she needs to see the picture first, but she is already imagining having her life back, with the two of them being free and together and fulfilling all their dreams

RJ’s Bar

While sitting at the bar, Charlie asks Joey about his marriage to Kelly and what went wrong.  Joey explains that the two of them were completely in love one day and then Kelly realized that she was in love with his brother.  Charlie tells him that he understands and he has had his licks, too.  Joey mentions how sometimes he thinks he hears her voice and has to stop himself and remind himself that things are no longer the same.  Charlie tells him that talking things out will help; he’s been there before.  Joey tells him it isn’t so easy to find someone to listen and when Charlie volunteers Joey tells him that he may regret his offer, but Charlie doesn’t think so.

Blair comes into the bar and tells Cris that she wants a glass of the best champagne he’s got.  He tells her that it is on the house and she thanks him.  Cris says that she should come around more often; it’ll make them a success for sure.  She tells him that she heard that this was the place to be; she came to get happy.  Cris says that women like her shouldn’t  have any problems.

Todd comes in a spots Blair and Cris at the bar.  RJ asks him what he’s doing there.  Todd hands him his keys and tells him that his car is parked out front, in case he wants to do any tampering.  As he approaches Blair, she tells him that the answer if “No”. When tells her that he hasn’t even asked her the question, she tells him that it doesn’t matter.  Cris sees her arguing with Todd and asks if there is a problem. “Butt out Bar Boy!” Todd commands and Blair tells Cris that everything is fine.  He tells her to let him know if she needs him.  Blair tells Todd that she has come to have some fun – just normal old fun.  Todd asks her if this place looks normal to her.  She tells him that she is going to find out and goes off to dance while Todd watches.

Jessica and Cris come in and greet Joey.  He introduces Charlie as the computer wizard who works at The Banner and Will tells him that he needs some business software.  As the two men talk, Jessica asks Joey what’s up and how he is.  He tells her that he is fine, but she isn’t so sure.  He admits that his situation in driving him crazy; he feels empty, lonely, scared and that is turning into anger, even though he knows that Kelly didn’t mean to hurt him.  When Jess tells him that she is sorry, he tells her that he is sick of people’s pity and he hates it.  He knows he will survive even though it will be hard.

The Station House

After Kelly examines the photo, she tells Bo that she can’t be sure that it’s the man she saw at the wedding.  Bo tells her that they’ll check him out and if necessary they’ll fly him in for identification and put him in a line up.  Kelly thinks that she will be able to identify him then.  Bo tells them that he wants an officer to accompany them home, just to be on the safe side.  After Bo has left, Kevin tells Kelly that he is sorry; he knows that she wanted it to be over.  She tells him that her fantasy is for the two of them to be out on the town, not looking over their shoulders or distracted and loving each other.   She wanted tonight to be the most special night they have ever had and Kevin tells her that for them every night is special and that there will be plenty of New Year’s Eves in their future.

Bo is talking to Roseanne in the squad room.  She tells him that she is ready to start work immediately if he wants her to.  She knows that she doesn’t have a great rep, but she wants to make up for her mistakes and Officer Vega has been a big help.  Bo notices that she has used Antonio as a reference and he pulls him aside and asks his opinion.  He tells Bo that Roseanne is a smart lady.  Sophia, who is at John’s desk with him retorts that she would call it conniving.  For every positive comment that Antonio makes to Bo, Sophia mutters a negative one to John.  John tells her that if she has a problem with Roseanne, she should talk to Bo about it.  Antonio walks over and asks Sophia if she is ok with everything.  “Since you asked,” Sophia begins, but is interrupted by Roseanne who announces that she has gotten the job.  Antonio wonders if Sophia had something to say.

Lindsay’s Loft

Lindsay tells Asa that she has gotten what she wanted.  “That’s it?  Money?  I thought you wanted to be somebody,” he chides.  When she tells him that she is, he reminds her that Clint and Bo dumped her.  Lindsay tells Asa that they are finished and he can go, but Asa can’t resist telling her that Bo is planning to ask Melanie to marry him tonight.  He describes the beautiful ring, saying that Bo has good taste.  She comments that Bo will marry Melanie over her dead body, and Asa thinks that would be the icing on the cake.  Melanie comes in to find the two talking.

The Station House

Bo sees Kelly and Kevin are ready to leave and asks them to wait for their escort.  He tells them that he wants them to stay safe and Kevin asks him if he has a moment for him.

Sophia comments that the job can be very chaotic, which she knows from experience.  She tells Roseanne that if she needs any help, she shouldn’t hesitate to ask; she will do everything in her power to help.   Roseanne, who seems quite excited, thanks her and tells her how nice that is.  John takes Roseanne to get the necessary personnel forms and Antonio asks Sophia if she is sure that she is ok with the situation.  She tells Antonio that she had a crush, but it’s not a big deal and he doesn’t have to tip toe are her.

Roseanne comes back and asks where her desk is.  Antonio shows it to her, and she comments that it’s not exactly her desk at The Palace, but it will do, stating that she is starting over and there will be no more French champagne for her.  Antonio thinks that she might be able to squeeze in a few glasses and tells her that he has made reservations for two at The Palace.  He wonders if she would like to celebrate.  When she says that she’d love to, he says they have a date.

RJ’s Club

Todd is still watching Blair dancing, when Jessica and Will thank him for the camcorder and the corporation. Will tells him that he would have sent him a thank you note, but Todd would probably actually prefer it if he screwed up instead.  He tells Todd that, instead, he is going to make something of this company.  During the conversation Todd is still watching Blair, who finishes dancing and kisses her two partners on the check and thanks them for the dance.  She heads back to the bar and asks Cris for a perfect martini straight up.  He asks her if she’d like a lemon twist or an olive and she tells him to surprise her, so he hands it to her with a ‘perfect’ olive.

Some of the patrons start cheering for Cris to do a bar dance, and without much prompting he climbs up on the bar to dance.  He looks down at Blair and tells her that he needs a partner, so she joins him.  When the song has finished, he climbs down and lifts Blair off the bar, and they continue their sexy dance.  Will looks at Jess and tells her that the show is for her benefit and she wonders if Cris is trying to make himself look like an idiot.  Blair tells Cris that he is an amazing dancer and he adds that she is an amazing partner.  She smiles and tells him that she just goes with the flow.

RJ comments to Todd that it looks like Blair has gotten over Max and that she reminds him of another woman they know - someone who went quickly from him to Todd.  At this point, Todd has had enough.  He grabs his coat, approaches Blair and tells her to put it on.  When she tells him that she doesn’t want to, he tells her that she is Starr’s mother and she shouldn’t be there doing the lambada with go-go boy.  He tells her that she needs to come with him. “Or what??” she wants to know.  “Or else!!” he replies; “You’ll be sorry!”  She tells him that she doesn’t think he’ll be making all the computers go out or telling on her, so he should just go and leave her alone.  When he tells her to make him, Joey approaches and says that that isn’t a problem and Cris joins him.  Todd looks at the two and storms out, leaving Blair with a worried look on her face.

The Station House

While Kevin is in Bo’s office, Kelly turns a corner and finds Sophia on a bench in the hall.  “Well, well, if it isn’t my dear friend who was so concerned about my well being,” she quips.  Sophia tells her that it’s not a good moment and it would be better if she left her alone.  Kelly thinks that is good advice and says that it’s too bad that Sophia didn’t take it herself, instead of trying to undermine she and Kevin’s relationship.  Sophia tells Kelly that she told Joey that it wouldn’t work but he is hurting too much to see the truth.  She says that Kelly is a lucky woman; what she and Kevin have is the real thing.  There is so much energy and there is such a connection that she can feel it when she is in the same room with them.  Kelly admits that it still amazes her, too.  Sophia confesses that the plan blew up in her face and she is done with scheming and dreaming because the love game stinks.  Kelly tells her that only the game part is bad; real love is incredible.  It may be hard to find, but it is worth it.  Sophia apologizes to Kelly, saying that she shouldn’t have let Joe talk her into going along with his plan.  Kelly forgives her and tells her that there is something that she could do to make it up to her and asks if she is willing to help.

In Bo’s office Kevin is asking him what will happen if the situation with the suspect doesn’t pan out.  Bo tells him that he hopes it will. Kevin wonders if he’ll have to pull some officers off the case and Bo admits that it is getting expensive; he has already been criticized for giving his family preferential treatment.  He tells Kevin that the mayor has even called.  Kevin retorts that the mayor can bill him; he’ll pay for the protection.  Bo thinks that a private security guard might be a good answer.  Kevin gets dramatic, saying that he’d like to build a wall around Kelly to protect her and Bo tells him to be patient.  They will find the guy.  Bo reminds Kevin that his duty comes before his family; his first obligation is the community.  Kevin tells him that he understands that he has to play by the rules, but he could just lose someone he loves that way.

Lindsay’s Loft

Asa tells Lindsay that he thinks that they are done and she agrees that they are.  He asks her to get the painting to Renee and she tells him that she’ll take care of it.  He looks over and smiles at Melanie, calling her honey and telling her that she brings sunshine with her.  “I do?” she asks.  Asa tells her that he calls them like he sees them and leaves.  Melanie asks Lindsay why he is so mellow and Lindsay wonders if she has come over to gloat.  Melanie asks why she might be gloating, but Lindsay is sure that she must have New Year’s Eve plans and points out that she doesn’t.  Melanie tells Lindsay that she is worried about her and Lindsay quips that she is touched, telling Melanie that she is not going to wind up with everything that ever meant anything to her.  Melanie says that she knows their father was unfair and the she always got more than Lindsay.  Lindsay tells her that she got everything she ever wanted.  Melanie tells Lindsay that she should have told her what she wanted; they could have divided things.  She pulls a small envelope out of her purse and offers Lindsay their father’s college ring.  Lindsay doesn’t want the ring; she tells Melanie that if her father had lived, she would have found a way to make him love her.  Melanie wonders what Colin has said to Lindsay.  Lindsay continues, saying that she never got a chance to say goodbye; Melanie was with their father constantly and wouldn’t let her see him.  A guilty Melanie admits that their father didn’t want to see her and apologizes, saying that it was unfair.  Lindsay tells her that she has no idea.  She then tells Melanie that she needs to get going; Bo must have plans for her and she can’t go out with him the way she is dressed now.  Melanie turns to leave and then stops, telling Lindsay that she hopes the New Year brings her happiness and if it does, she hopes that she’ll take it.

The Station House

In the squad room John asks Bo if he’s got a hot date.  Bo tells him that he has plans to go out on the town and nothing will keep him there.  He tells John that he’ll just have to cope without him.  John tells him that he’d like to, but Bo must have forgotten that he is on suspension.  Bo tells him that he hasn’t, but he can’t wait until he comes back. “You and me both,” John states as he heads for the door.

Sophia tells Roseanne and Antonio to have a great time.  Antonio tells her to do the same and Roseanne gets up from her new desk, saying that they had better go, as they don’t want to lose their reservation.

Kevin asks Sophia if she has seen Kelly.  “Didn’t she tell you?” asks Sophia.  She tells him that some FBI agents have taken her for questioning, but she knows where they went and can take him there.  He thanks her and they leave.

RJ’s Club

Charlie and Joey continue their conversation with Charlie saying what a drag it is when you picture you ex with a guy in one of your favorite places.  Joey admits that he wouldn’t be able to stand it if Kelly took Kevin to Paris.  Charlie says that special places are the worst and that his was a carousel in the park; he asks Joey if he and Kelly had a special place.  “Absolutely,” Joey answers.  “Out with it,” Charlie commands and orders another round.

Jess and Will are dancing and watching Cris.  She can’t believe he is making such a fool of himself. “Who cares?” Will asks.  Some of their friends come over and ask them if they’d like to go to another party with them, so the two leave.

At the bar, Blair asks Cris if he is ready for an encore.  “Always,” he responds and whispers something in her eye.  She smiles and tells him he is brilliant and he asks her about Todd.  She tells him that Todd isn’t there.

The Sun

Todd storms into his office, saying the auld acquaintance should be forgot and says that he needs to get ready to have a happy New Year.

Viki’s Cabin

Sophia and Kevin (dressed in a tuxedo) arrive at the cabin to find another officer outside the door.  The officer wishes Kevin a happy New Year and Kevin wishes him the same and asks if he knows why he is wearing a monkey suit.  Sophia tells Kevin that patience is a virtue and he will find his answer behind the door.  As Sophia and the officer walk away from the door, Kevin opens it.

The Sun

“The Hell with you and baby-face twinkle toes!” Todd snarls. “Cheer up,” he quips, “You’ll all be sorry.  Nobody will be left out.”  He sits down at the computer and pulls up a screen.

The Station House

Bo is in the storeroom when Lindsay enters.  He asks her what she is doing there and she tells him that she needs to talk to him.  He asks her what it’s about and she tells him that she needs to warn him.  He then tells her if it is about Melanie, she had better turn around and walk out the door.   He tells her goodnight, but she asks him to listen to her.

The Sun

Todd has pulled up a grid of the city on the computer.  “Now where was I?” he asks himself and keys in some new data, saying “Let’s go!”  The electricity goes out all over town.

The Station House

Bo realizes that he and Lindsay are stuck in the storage room.

RJ’s Club

Blair and Cris are dancing and she tells him that she was looking for fun.  He asks her if she has found it.  “Didn’t you?” she asks.  “Why stop now?”

The Sun

Todd pinpoints different areas on the map, saying “Get Blair!”

RJ’s Club

Cris asks Blair if she has anything special in mind.  She tells him that she does and it starts with this and kisses him.  At that moment all the lights go out.
