Cris’s Apartment

Roseanne uses her keys to enter the apartment and finds Antonio still in bed.  He wakes upon hearing her and she tells him that it is getting late and that she wanted to make sure he got to work on time.  He thinks she wanted to see whether or not Sophia was there and she admits that he is partly right and asks how things went.  Before he has a chance to answer, there is a knock at the door and it is Sophia.  Roseanne takes advantage of the moment and lounges across the bed.

Hallowed Grounds

While taking a break from Christmas shopping, Nora runs into Renee in a local coffee bar.  She asks her if it’s ethical for her to have coffee with the lawyer defending the woman accused of shooting your son.  Renee laughs and says that it isn’t, but since it’s Nora, she’ll make an exception.  The finally see a free spot and grab a couch, grateful for the chance to rest their aching feet.  Renee notes Nora’s many bags and comments that it looks like she’s full of the Christmas spirit.  Nora tells Renee that she has an important question for her and asks her if she got her a silk scarf for Christmas last year.  Renee tells her that she did not; she got her a lovely pair of leather gloves.  Nora jokingly tells her that shopping this year has been a nightmare, because she’s afraid that she’ll buy people what she got them the year before.  Renee tells her that it is sometimes hard to remember what she is going through because she puts up such a brave front.  Nora admits that she’s just navigating through the ups and downs and it’s tough getting around the memories of times with Bo and the fact that they are no longer married.

The Park

Bo and Hank jog into the park, with Bo gloating over the fact that he has finally won, for the first time ever.  Hank tells him it’s because it’s not natural to run in weather like this, but Bo tells him that it’s a perfect day.  Hank thinks it’s perfect for getting frostbite or maybe hypothermia.  Bo ponders the beauty of the pond and mentions the geese flying south, almost too late; they almost missed out, but they’ll make it.  He tells Hank that he’s going to marry Melanie and Hanks responds that he knows.

Melanie’s

Melanie has just come home from work and there is a knock at the door.  It is Sam, with divorce papers in hand.  He asks her what she was thinking when she signed them and why she didn’t consult him.  She explains that she just wanted for things to be over.  He tells her that he could maybe agree with 50% percent of her assets, but can’t fathom her giving Colin the house and 12% of her salary for life.  He tells her that he is going to take this to court and fight it, saying that she was coerced or possibly out of her mind.  Melanie tells him that she knew what she was doing and that she just wanted it to end; she didn’t do anything wrong and she doesn’t want any more threatening or torturing.

Lindsay’s

Lindsay is holding a blonde wig and wearing a white lab coat, studying herself in front of the mirror.  She puts the wig on and attaches Melanie’s hospital ID to the jacket, smiling to herself.  Nora, as Melanie’s conscience, pops in and tells Lindsay that she must be kidding; Halloween was a month and a half ago.  Lindsay quips that she thought she was rid of her, to which Nora replies that she is surprised that she has a conscience at all.  Lindsay tells her that she can’t talk her out of this and Nora tells her that she’s not going to try; she wouldn’t miss this for the world.  Lindsay gathers her things up and leaves.

Cris’s Apartment

Sophia sees Roseanne and stops in the doorway, telling Antonio that she has just come by to pick him up for work, but she’ll wait in the car.   He tells her that she doesn’t have to wait outside, but she goes out, saying that perhaps they should meet at the station from now on.  After she leaves, Roseanne asks him how he expects to stay partners with Sophia, and he tells her that it is none of her business.  He adds that she needs to stop letting herself in at all hours, stating that perhaps he should give him back the keys and knock like everyone else.  He is angry, telling her that she shouldn’t have hurt Sophia that way, draping herself on the bed and shoving it in her face.  Roseanne asks if he thinks that Sophia really loves him and he tells her that that is none of her business either.  She apologizes, saying she is sorry about their fight and Sophia getting hurt.  She admits that it really is none of her business.

Antonio tells her that he has to get ready for work and she asks if he wants her to leave. He tells her that that is the general idea.  She tells him that she has some things there that she has to gather up, but he tells her he has no time.  She tells him to go ahead and leave and she’ll gather up her things and go; she promises.  He tells her to close the door when she is through and leaves.  She starts to gather up her things and stops to look out the window and suddenly cries out, “No!” and rushes out of the apartment.

The Park

Bo wants to know how Hank ‘knows’ about his intentions to marry Melanie.  Hank tells him that it’s pretty obvious; you don’t have to be a brain surgeon to figure it out.  Bo comments that the world is a different place since he met her and he wants her to know that.  He wants her to be with him today and tomorrow, but he is worried about hurting Nora.  Hank understands, but tells him that he’s already done a lot for Nora.  Bo says she has come a long way, but he doesn’t want to be the cause of any setbacks.  He wants her to be happy, too.

The men look up and see Asa, who is talking with the Park Commissioner.  Bo asks what he is doing there, and Asa says that he is trying to speed things up on Viki’s project for the park.  Hank excuses himself, saying that he has to get back to work.  Bo asks his father if he is trying to build up some public sympathy before his trial, but Asa denies it, saying that he is just making good on his promise to Renee and Max.  He adds that Renee is coming to the mansion for Christmas dinner and it would really be nice to have all the family there.  He tells Bo that Clint already has plans, but he is working on getting him to change his mind.  Bo comments that his father never was one to take ‘No’ for an answer.  Asa invites him to come to dinner, too, and asks him to bring Nora.  Bo doesn’t think that is such a good idea; he’d like to come to dinner, but he won’t be bringing Nora.  Asa comments that she really does love him and maybe they could start over again.  Bo tells his father that he is going to ask Melanie to marry him and Asa says that he can’t believe that Bo won’t give Nora a second chance.

Hallowed Grounds

Renee mentions Asa’s Christmas dinner and Nora asks if she is planning to go.  She tells her that she is thinking about it, but it would be easier if Nora came with her.  Nora doesn’t think that would be such a good idea.  She asks if this might be a first step toward a reconciliation.  Renee admits that she doesn’t really know; Asa has made a lot of promises and she’s not sure if this is just another Buchanan bluster.  She does know that she’s not ready to give up just yet.  Nora says that she has to go and offers to leave money with Renee, who refuses, saying it was only coffee.  Nora tells her that it was much more; it was spending time with her, being her friend and not giving up on her.  Renee tells her that nothing could change their friendship.  Nora recounts the story of a case of hers in Chicago; it was a gentleman with Alzheimer’s whose family was trying to have him termed incompetent.  She says that she could never forget the pain that the man suffered and didn’t think she could ever feel what he felt until now.  Renee is quick to point out that things are different with her and that she will remember and her friends will fill in the gaps that remain.  Renee knows that she will be all right.

Nora leaves, but stops just outside the coffee shop and calls Colin.  She says that she shouldn’t be calling him, but that she is having flashes of dreams and she thinks that he is the only person that can help her.  She asks him to meet her and he agrees.  They decide to meet in the park at the benches across from the pond.

The Bank

Lindsay is waiting to be helped at the bank when her conscience (in the form of Nora) shows up again.  She tells her that she looks nervous, but Lindsay denies it, saying that she is excited.  She tells her that she is going to outfox Colin; once she gets her hands on the letters that he has, the blackmail will end.  Nora wants to know how she is so sure that the letters will be there.  Lindsay tells her that she asked Sam where he would put important documents and this is what he advised.  Nora points out that Sam doesn’t advise Colin.

The bank officer comes in and greets “Dr. MacIver”.   Lindsay tells him that she needs to get into their safety deposit box, but has lost her key.  He tells her that they have a problem and Nora chimes in, “I’ll say!”  He tells her that he cannot issue another key without the approval of both of the account holders.  She tells him that he cannot call her husband and he asks her what is going on.  Lindsay ‘explains’ that she didn’t lose the key, but she can’t get it.  They are going through an ugly divorce and although she is trying to be nice and friendly, her husband in being very vindictive.  The officer tells her that he is sorry and she continues, saying that he left her for another woman.  She then tells him to be honest and asks him if she is that repulsive.  He tells her, of course, that she is not.  Lindsay explains that there are letters from her father when he was on his death bed in the box and she is afraid that Colin will destroy them.  She wonders if he can help her.  He tells her that he’ll see what he can do and she implores him not to call her husband.  He assures her that he won’t, saying that her husband is a cad.  When he has gone, Nora laughs, telling her that she is good.

The Park

Asa tells Bo that he can’t marry the Lindsay clone.  Bo reminds his father that he and Nora are divorced, but Asa points out that Nora doesn’t remember that.  Bo tells him that it happened, nonetheless.  Asa states that Nora is a real Buchanan and Bo says that Melanie will be, too.  Asa is angry and tells Bo that he owes Nora, especially since he didn’t nail MacIver.

Hallowed Grounds

Renee has left her purse sitting on the couch and walked away.  A young man grabs it as she is returning and she struggles with him.  He pulls out a knife and she lets go of the bag.  As he heads for the door, Sophia and Antonio enter.  Antonio tries to convince him to put the knife down and not make things worse for himself.

Cris’s Apartment

Roseanne comes back into the apartment, accompanied by RJ.  She tells him that the fact that her car was towed away is not funny.  He thinks that it was hilarious.  She can’t wait to get her hands on the person responsible, and he tells her that that would be him.  He buys up loans and the repossesses the cars.  Roseanne calls him scum, but he tells her to be careful; he has come to save her shapely behind.  He is going to offer her a job so that she can afford to buy her car back.  She tells him that she’d rather live on the street first and he tells her that it is colder than she knows.  He has a job in mind that is along the lines of her abilities.

Hallowed Grounds

The would-be thief lunges at Antonio with the knife and Sophia jumps in front of him to protect him.  There is a struggle and Antonio overcomes him, handcuffing him and telling him how stupid it was to steal a purse and assault an officer.  He tells Sophia to see who it belongs to and Renee claims it as hers.  Antonio tells her that they will need her to come to the Station to make a statement.  She agrees and then notices that Sophia has been injured and is bleeding, telling her to get it taken care of.  Antonio is angry with Sophia, telling her that that move was against everything that they learned in their training and she agrees, but says that she couldn’t help it.  He tells her that she could have made things worse.  She knows that, but tells him it is only a scratch.

The Station House

Bo is sitting at his desk and Hank comes in.  He asks Bo if he is ok. Bo tells him that he is going over his conversation with Asa, adding that Hank was wise to leave when he did.  Hank thinks that Bo should get an award for putting up with Asa as well as he does.  Bo tells him that he informed Asa of his intentions to marry Melanie.  Hank wonders if Asa congratulated him and Bo says that he considers it bailing on Nora.  Hank tells Bo that although he and Nora have a special bond, their marriage if over (just like Nora and Hank’s marriage).  They all thought that she had been killed in an accident and then she shows up with a memory loss and lands smack dab in the middle of their lives.  He tells Bo that he has already done a lot for Nora, putting his life on hold, but maybe an engagement to Melanie will help her move on.  Bo wants to know if Hank really believes that and Hank says that he doesn’t know.

Melanie’s

Sam tells Melanie that he, too, has been through a divorce and agonized through the decision, as did Lindsay.  He wanted it to be over cleanly, quickly and permanently, too and nothing seemed worth fighting for.  He reminds her, however, that that is the reason that people hire lawyers.  He tells her that he can almost agree to the splitting of the assets and maybe even the 12% of her salary, but he can’t understand her giving up her family’s house.  He tells him that Colin had affairs there and kept Nora prisoner there; she doesn’t even want to look at it.  He wonders about personal affects.  She tells him that there was some of her mother’s jewelry and letters from her father, which are in a safety deposit box at the bank.  He tells her that they would be wise to check it out before Colin gets there first.

The Bank

The bank officer comes back and asks for Lindsay’s signature.  She tells him that her handwriting has probably gotten worse; she is a doctor, after all.  He checks the signatures against one another and decides that they match.  He tells her that he won’t be able to grant her such a courtesy again; he is breaking the rules, but he understands her situation and thinks she may need a shoulder to lean on. She plays the game, telling him that his shoulders look very strong and then adds that she wants to get this done, as she is afraid that her husband may show up.  He agrees, asking if she would like to have dinner some time.  She says that she would and he tells her that he has her number on file. She tells him to make sure that he calls her and work and he leaves.

The Park

Colin arrives and asks Nora about her dreams, saying he hopes that they are good ones.  She tells him that in the first one she is tied down and has a gag in her mouth and can’t breathe.  He tells her that that sounds horrible and she asks if it really happened.  He tells her that it did not.  He tells her that she was comfortable and happy, for the most part, although she did suffer the pain from her injuries.  She tells him that in the second dream she is in a bathtub and someone is washing her.  She then asks him if that happened.  He again tells her that it did not.  She continues, saying that in the third dream she is in a room and Lindsay is coming after her and trying to hurt her, but Colin keeps her away.  She asks him if that happened.

Cris’s Apartment

Roseanne tells RJ that Antonio is trying to help her and he wonders how; it certainly can’t be with money, as cops don’t have any.  She says that he is helping her to find a job and he laughs, wondering if she’ll be slinging hash at the diner.  She tells him that it will be at the police station and he laughs again, telling her that her car will be a classic by the time she can afford to pay for it.  He leaves, shaking his head and smiling.

The Station House

Renee is talking to Antonio and tells him that she didn’t want to let her purse go, but when she saw the knife she changed her mind.  Her life is worth a lot more than that purse.  She mentions Sophia and how she threw herself in front of him and he replies that that sometimes happens. She asks him to thank her and after she leaves he goes to Bo’s door and knocks, saying that he needs to talk to him about his partner.  As he closes the door, he sees Sophia and Bo tells him the Sophia has already beaten him to it.

The Park

Colin wonders what Lindsay was attacking Nora with, but Nora tells him that she couldn’t make it out.  She knew that she was in danger and Colin was trying to protect her.  She asks what Lindsay was trying to do and he tells her he has no idea; it was her dream.  He tells her that he sees it as a victory because she realizes that he was on her side and asks her if she’d like to go to lunch; he’s starving.  He tells her that his horse is parked across the street and she takes his arm and asks where his armor is.

Asa approaches and tells Colin to get his filthy hands off of Nora.

The Bank

Lindsay opens the box and finds a rock with a note attached.  At the same moment, Sam and Melanie enter the room and Sam comments, “What have we here?”
