<<< BACK TO RECAPS  INDEX

Viki is at the kitchen counter, lost in thought. Ben walks up behind her and offers to take over the cooking. He surmises that she’s got Todd on her mind. Viki expresses her disbelief that her brother actually kept Nora from her loved ones for a month. Ben responds that he’s given up trying to figure Todd out. Viki berates herself for thinking Todd wanted to change. She opines that the food cart he came bearing the previous day was simply damage control, since he knew the truth about his involvement with Nora was about to come out. Ben declares that, when Todd hurts Viki, he wants to hurt Todd in return. As Ben works on the eggs, Viki opens the morning Sun. Her face pales and she gasps. Ben reads the headline over her shoulder – Shacking Up: Mob Doc Turned Gigolo Moves In On Ailing Publisher.

Ben urges Viki to “forget Todd’s garbage,” but Viki swears she’ll kill her brother. “It’s only words,” Ben reminds her, but Viki knows all too well the power of words. She tells Ben that, when she looks at the headline, all she can think of is how much Todd has to be hurting to be lashing out in such a way. Ben is shocked that she’s still seemingly giving Todd the benefit of the doubt. Viki picks up her purse and heads for the door, eager to confront Todd. Ben wonders if she plans on giving him a hug, but Viki assures him that she’s had it. Ben worries that Todd will eventually twist Viki’s words around, and she’ll end up feeling sorry for him. Although Viki is certain that won’t happen, she eventually allows herself to be convinced to stay home.

Over at the Buchanan mansion, Asa reads the same headline. His response is to gloat to Max and Blair that maybe, finally, the Rappa-Davidsons are finished. He’s curious as to how Todd managed to regain control of the Sun. Blair feigns ignorance, saying only that she heard a rumor that Todd swindled Kelly out of her shares. Suddenly, the phone rings. Asa answers it and is furious to discover that B&B United has scuttled another of his business deals. As Max and Asa try to determine what went wrong, Blair excuses herself.

Just as Ben and Viki are about to take a walk to discuss their wedding plans, Asa barges in. He suggests that Viki leave, since things could get ugly. Viki stays put as Asa snarls at Ben that Todd had his shot at him, now it’s his turn. “When I’m done, you’re finished!” the old man declares. Asa proceeds to rant about Ben’s company. Viki and Ben present a united front as Asa laments Viki’s giving up a “real man” for “this piece of trash.” “Did Viki tell you she’s about to become Davidson trash?” Ben asks. Asa practically spits that he pities Viki. She counters that Asa obviously won’t want to come to the wedding. All his family will be there, Ben gleefully informs Asa, including Renee, who’s helping to plan the whole thing. Asa swears that he’s through with Viki. Ben responds that he can’t wait till Asa says the same about him. Asa vows that he’ll dance on Ben’s grave. Viki, her teeth clenched in fury, orders Asa to leave. As he’s about to exit, she remarks that, although her cancer’s in remission, the hatred in him is still eating him alive.

“Breakfast with Asa. What a healthy way to start the day,” Ben quips once he and Viki are alone again. The duo discuss their urges to strangle both Asa and Todd. Ben hugs Viki and vows that he’ll make everything better.

Back at the mansion, Todd walks into Starr’s room as she’s playing ‘revenge’ with her dolls. Starr tells her daddy how she’s sorry that her mommy doesn’t want to play the revenge game anymore. Starr hopes that, eventually, “Uncle Max” will get mad, so that she and Blair can go live with Todd. Blair enters and demands to know why Todd is there. He explains that he wants information on Ben, and believes she can provide some. Todd sends Starr off to play with her computer while he and Blair talk. He asks his ex-wife, point blank, if she’s sleeping with Davidson. Blair immediately denies it. Todd vows that he’ll find out what Ben’s hiding, one way or the other. Max arrives and doesn’t hide his displeasure at Todd’s presence. Max insists he needs to talk to Blair, so the two exit. Todd muses to a newly returned Starr that he’s sure Blair and Max have something on Ben. He suggests to Starr that they play an adult game. “Do you know what eavesdropping is?” he asks his daughter. She’s unsure, so he explains that it means listening in on other people’s conversations. When she expresses interest, he urges her to listen to everything that Max and Blair say, and report it to him. She worries that she won’t remember everything, so he tells her simply to pay attention to anything they say about Ben and Max. She agrees to play spy.

Down in the living room, Blair insists to Max that she has no idea why Todd asked about Ben. Max is anxious to have Todd gone. The man himself, who overhears this last remark, takes his leave. Starr hides behind a door and prepares to listen to her mother and Max’s discussion. The latter expresses his concern about Todd’s interest in Ben. Blair assures her husband that there’s no way Todd will find out who Ben really is.

Across town, Kelly storms into Todd’s office. Briggs informs her that the publisher is not yet at work. Kelly expresses her disdain, reminding Briggs that she was always in by 6:00 a.m. Kevin, who has obviously followed his lady love, appears in the doorway. Kelly immediately informs the two men that she’s planning to work for Todd. Briggs exits as Kevin and Kelly discuss her newest idea. She insists it’s because she wants her “creative freedom”, and she believes Todd will give it to her. Briggs returns and tries, unsuccessfully, to get the duo to vacate Mr. Manning’s office. Alone with each other once more, Kevin states that he doesn’t want to keep Kelly from doing what she loves. He adds that, although he’ll be worried about her, he’ll let her be his accomplice. They begin to kiss, until Kevin pipes up – there’s one condition. Kelly pulls away, until Kevin assures her all he wants is for her to wear her hot little outfit again. Their kissing becomes passionate, until Briggs reappears, warning them that Todd is on his way. Kelly and Kevin beat a hasty retreat.

Moments later, Todd strides into his office. He sits at his desk and begins to peruse a file, his back to the door. Ben enters quietly. He spins Todd’s chair around, and the two men come face to face.

At the police station, Colin is seated in Bo’s office. The latter, along with Hank and Colin’s lawyer, are awaiting Colin’s bail hearing. Before Dr. MacIver is led to court, Bo warns him that Nora hates to lose a case.

Meanwhile, Nora is going over old cases at home. She comes across Broadmore vs. Hall’s and is stunned to see that her old Chicago haunt was almost closed. She’s further dismayed to realize that she and Sam prosecuted the case, and she has no recollection of it. Melanie arrives and witnesses Nora’s frustration. Lanie is sympathetic as Nora reveals how desperately she wants to be independent. Since they’re on the subject, Lanie confesses that she’s looking for a new place to live. Nora insists that she wants her guest to stay – she’s enjoying the company. Melanie mentions the house she shared with Colin, and Nora expresses her belief that she should have some memories of it if she was held there for weeks. Matthew pads downstairs and heads straight for Melanie. He wants a cookie, he tells her. Lanie gently suggests he ask his mom. He did, but she’s a ghost, the little boy says. Nora’s hurt is reflected on her face. She swears to her son that she’s not a ghost, and he can prove it by tickling her. The youngster remains glued to Lanie, until Maryanne arrives to take him to a play date. The nanny explains that some of Matthew’s friends have been telling him his mommy is a ghost. Nora watches him go, lamenting that she’s hurt her little boy. She then runs out.

Lindsay arrives to visit her sister. She crows about being vindicated, but Lanie is not so sure that’s the case. Lindsay is shocked when she hears that Lanie is still living at Sam’s, even though the latter has moved out. She wonders how Nora is coping with the fact that Bo’s new flame is sharing her house. When Lanie skirts the issue, it dawns on Lindsay that Nora doesn’t have a clue about Lanie and Bo. Melanie warns her sister not to make things worse. Lindsay insists that she and Lanie are true sisters, “right down to the little white lies.” Melanie swears that everyone is just being cautious, for Nora’s sake. Too much information too soon could jeopardize her recovery. Lindsay attempts to make Melanie jealous of Nora and Bo’s relationship, but she’s unsuccessful. Lindsay quickly changes tacks, wanting to know where Nora is, so that she can at least say hello. Melanie admits that Nora was upset and went out. Lindsay guesses that she headed straight to Bo. Lanie is sure that’s true – she’d want to be with Bo, too, if she was in Nora’s situation. She muses about what Nora might eventually remember. Lindsay is offended that her own sister doubts her. She swears that she would never keep a mother from her child, then confesses that she’s afraid to see Will. She asks Melanie to come with her, and Lanie agrees to do so.

Back at the station, Nora bursts into Bo’s office, demanding to see Colin. He’s at his bail hearing, Bo explains. Nora tries to rush out, but Bo stops her. Nora expresses her fear that Colin will weasel out of everything, and that it will all be her fault. Bo assures her she’s not to blame. She’s distressed that she can’t testify against Colin, since she doesn’t remember him, and she admits that she feels powerless. She decides to ask Larry for another dose of the antidote, but Bo reminds her that it might not be safe. She worries that she’ll go nuts if Colin ends up a free man. Bo tries to comfort her, as Hank enters. Nora guesses, from the look on his face, that his news isn’t good. Colin was granted bail, Hank confirms. Nora, needing answers, lies to Bo that she’s going to the ladies’ room. Instead, she crosses the squad room and prepares to leave the building. On her way, she spots an envelope which contains Colin’s valuables. She memorizes the address, then swipes his keys for good measure.

Hank and Bo discuss their need for hard evidence in order to convict Colin. Hank asks about Nora. Bo declares that he’s hopeful, since she’s even starting to act like herself again. This triggers a thought, and he asks Shelby to see if Nora is still in the ladies’ room. Shelby informs her boss that Nora left the parking lot some time ago. Colin was close behind, the officer adds, but he filed a complaint before he left – his house keys were missing from his personal effects. Bo puts the pieces of the puzzle together just as Melanie and Lindsay arrive at the station. He can’t talk, he tells them, as Nora might be in serious trouble.

Nora lets herself into Colin’s house and slowly walks around, taking in the surroundings. She’s about to head upstairs as Colin walks in. “Scarlet,” he whispers, as their eyes meet.
