RELEASE FROM YOUR ONE LIFE TO LIVE FANS GUIDE:
February 2, 2002
PLEASE READ MY OFFICIAL STATEMENT HERE!
It seems
"The Powers to Be" at
One Life to Live, as you may have guessed, are planning on breaking up
the characters of Sam and Nora, and also Todd and Blair. From these break-ups
certain characters will be heading towards new relationships. There are
speculations Nora may end up with Troy, and Sam with Blair for awhile. Nothing
at this point is set in stone for the exact direction each character will
eventually be heading that is really anybody's guess. What I can tell you is this, you can choose to believe
what you want, only time will tell for sure.
In the meantime, I have decided to join the effort to ensure both of these couples stay together. This campaign is more than just taking sides, it's about taking a stand and coming together with others for something we all believe in. To those who oppose the pairing of either couple, I respect your decision completely. I am not asking anyone to go against something they personally do not want. This is the freedom of speech we all enjoy in this country.
To
those of you who want to join this particular campaign and take a stand, then
here's what we can do:
Along with
the full support of Laurence Lau's, Hillary B. Smith's and Roger Howarth's Official
Fan Clubs, we are beginning one of the biggest campaigns to hit the ABC
daytime executives in quite sometime. And we need your support!
We are asking all fans to send out the print-ready postcards directly to Gary Tomlin, OLTL's executive producer and Angela Shapiro, ABC's Daytime President. If enough postcards are sent in by the fans, I feel the impact will be significant enough to make a change in the direction of these character's storylines. This campaign is for both couples. Not only do we want to see them keeping Sam and Nora together, but also Todd and Blair. Fan campaigns have worked in the past, and we have every intention of doing the same with this one. I'd also love to see Todd and Blair fans and Sam and Nora fans come together on this campaign to ensure it's success even further.
All you need to do is print out both sets of postcards on white or light-colored cardstock (the post office may reject a bright color), carefully cut them out, put a 21 cent stamp on each, and mail them out. When you click on the postcard link, it will need to be open by a word editor, such as Microsoft Word. If you have any problems with opening up the file, please e-mail me and I will send it to you using a different method. Also, please be sure to keep the postcards at the same size. Anything over six inches in length, will require a regular 34 cent stamp. I also recommend signing your name at the bottom of the postcard message, but do not write over the space reserved for the post office. Your support on this effort takes only a few minutes of your time, but with the combination of all of us, we can make a dramatic impact on those in charge at One Life to Live. Please help us in the effort.
As an added incentive, we will be giving away an autographed photo of Laurence Lau and Hillary B. Smith to the winner in our "OLTL Couples Campaign" Contest. All you need to do to enter is take a copy of your stamped couple campaign postcards, and send it in to us. Be sure to also include your full name and e-mail address for contact purposes only. One entry allowed per person, however, you will be entered twice if you send out both sets of postcards (Sam/Nora and Todd/Blair). In other words, all four postcards must be stamped and photocopied before mailing them out to ABC. There are three different methods you can use to send in your entry form: 1) Scan a copy of your stamped postcards, and e-mail it to onelifetolive.guide@about.com. 2) Send your photocopies by fax to 928-396-7520. Or, 3) Send your photocopies by regular mail. (Note: The P.O. Box address will be available soon. So please check back for more details.) At the end of this campaign, a drawing will be held and one lucky fan will receive the autographed photos.
Another way you can support this effort is by e-mailing ABC, the soap magazines, and other media contacts and let them know you are supporting this effort. Here is the complete list of contacts to get you started.
Let me point out, however, the best way to make an impact is through the mail-in postcards. You are more than welcome to write letters as well. The studios are accepting letters, however, the postcards were designed to ensure they would be seen and read by the appropriate folks without having to be opened due to security issues.
If you have any questions, please e-mail one of us below.
Thank you so much for your support!

Please note: I
do expect to receive e-mails from Bo and Nora fans, Todd and Tea fans, and perhaps
even Troy and Nora fans. But please consider this, I am fan of the show just as
much as anybody else, and I'm certainly entitled to my opinion, just as you are
entitled to yours. My opinions have never interfered with my duties of running
my OLTL site.
I represent all types of sites, fans, stars, etc., and have supported other
campaigns throughout the years. If you disagree with this particular campaign,
it's your decision, and I will respect that. So please respect my decision to sponsor
it. Inappropriate e-mails will be immediately deleted. Thank you.
