Robert S. Woods was born March 13, 1948 in Maywood, California.

Sometimes is credited as Robert Merritt Woods.

Is married to actress Loyita Chapel, who played the role of Blaize Buchanan on One Life to Live in 1989. Chapel also played a strip club dancer in Neil Simon's The Goodbye Girl in 1977.

Has a son named Tanner.

Woods loves photos and even the walls of his dressing room are covered. One of his favorite photos is of him and Thorsten Kaye (ex-Patrick, Ian, PC). The two of them are smiling and leaning over the rail of Woods' unfinished tree house which he has been building for his son Tanner.

The "S" in Woods' name stands for Sosebee.

Was a Green Beret in Vietnam, and served in the Special Forces.

Woods played the role of Lieutenant Commander Eugene Lindsay in the 1989 mini-series War and Remembrance.

Woods was also in the movie The China Syndrome in 1979.
