Fan Recap for One Life to Live

From Kaydee, for About.com

We open with jazz saxophone player Paul filling Capricorn with some amazing music. Although I am not particularly a jazz fan myself, I completely enjoy extreme talent, and this young man has it!

The camera zooms in on Natalie, who seems lost in the music and in thought. RJ comes over and asks her what brings her there? She replies that his club is a place to think, so she's thinking. On the other hand, who is occupying RJ's thoughts? RJ replies that Evangeline is...she was supposed to be here tonight, but she's off on some big case instead. Natalie says that it sounds like someone she knows...John McBain. RJ tells her that at least John made time in his busy schedule to make a reservation to be at the club for the jazz event. Natalie gets happy. REALLY? John's coming here? RJ says, "Yeah, but apparently not alone. He made a reservation for two." Natalie's smile quickly fades.

The camera does a split take, and we see Paul playing his sax, and Riley at Angel Square playing his guitar.

At the precinct, John and Kathryn...(ICK!), are grilling Paul. Kathryn is reviewing what Paul is to say in his testimony against the Correacas brothers, and John slips right into grilling him about the hospital mishaps. He asks Paul if he's sticking to his story that the last time he used the chopper was a week ago, to transport cargo for Dr. Long. Paul says he is sticking to that story. John looks to Kathryn, who reads an air control report that Paul flew the chopper just a few nights ago. Paul impishly tells John that the report is referring to a night he flew Natalie out for a night on the town. John says that his information conflicts with the info on Dr. Long's records. Paul gloatingly says that he couldn't very well tell Dr. Long the truth, now could he? That he took Natalie up to the roof for a good time with the hospital chopper? John grins, and tells him that he can leave. Kathryn warns him that she'll be picking him up to catch the red-eye flight to California, so don't even think about ditching her! Paul says he'd never do that. Kathryn turns to John...Is Paul right? Is this personal? John says no, then invites her to go see the jazz concert at Capricorn with him. She accepts. John arrives at the club first, running into Nat. What are you doing here, he asks. I'm worried about my mom...and stuff. I came to enjoy the music. Well at least you didn't go off and do something with Kramer. She gets a bit angry, telling him that at least Paul doesn't act like he wants her one minute and doesn't the next. John, angry as well, snaps:

What do you want from me, Natalie? I was straight with you from the start. We are good friends. Really? Then why is it that everytime I turn around, there you are? It's a small town, we have a lot of the same friends. Yeah, one of which you hate to see me with, yet YOU don't want to be with me. Who has the problem here, John? He tells her that if she feels that she can find happiness with the kid, then go on. Paul arrives, and they insult each other, then separate. Paul immediately invites Natalie to join him on a flight to California. Natalie says she can't. He asks her what's keeping her in Llanview? She sadly looks over at John, who is greeting a newly-arrived Kathryn by accepting her kiss on his cheek. She turns to Paul and asks him what he had in mind. He tells her he has to testify, but in his free time, they could fly to Vegas. NO! Not Vegas! Never again. Then Catalina? Could be fun. She looks at John again, Kathryn is stroking his hair. She declines Paul's offer. Later, John and Kathryn leave the club and run into Shannon. He stops to have a brief heart-to-heart with his wayward cousin, then he and Kathryn chat themselves. Kathryn tries to flirt a bit, but he's not entertaining it. She comments that he'll never love anyone but Caitlin, will he? He says he got lucky once. He steers the conversation on another path. He makes a joke about her bearing with the jazz, and she grins, telling him that Caitlin was the jazz lover, it always put her to sleep. She tells him that she noticed, however, that Natalie was totally into it. John says it's not the same. Kathryn tells him that Caitlin would have wanted him to be happy again, and she leaves.

Enter Natalie, as he's about to leave. He turns to her and apologizes for his earlier behavior, and also for things not turning out between them as she had hoped. She plants a passionate kiss on him, steps back, and says: "I'm sorry, too!" Then she walks away. Stew on THAT, Agent McBain!
