Danny slips into's Bo's office while the other three exchange confused glances with each other. A few seconds later, Danny calls them into the office and points to the TV screen. There's a frozen video frame of one of the officers sitting on a bed looking at the camera, and Bo asks Danny indifferently,
"What am I looking at?" Danny ignores him and asks John if he recognizes the officer on the screen. John shrugs, telling him that he thinks he saw the officer at the crime scene where they captured Haver, why? Bo asks John how well does he know the officer? John says that he may have said hello and goodbye a couple of times. Bo asks if he knows the officers name, and John struggles to remember. Again he shrugs, and says..."Jerry, maybe?'
Daniel starts the tape. The officer, looking like a zombified robot, stares at the camera and says...
(and I'm paraphrasing by memory here, so be nice, LJ!)
"My name is Officer Gary Phillips. I was one of the officers on the scene when Dr. Stephen Haver was captured. I am confessing, because I am ashamed of myself for abusing my responsibility on the job. I was told by Agent John McBain, to kill Dr. Haver. He gave me the gun! Damn you, McBain!"
Weasel Danny D.A. shuts off the tape and is quite smug when he demands that John explain himself. John, in that relaxed manner of his, ignores the D.A. and looks straight at Bo, saying,
"Bo, did you see that look in his eyes?" The two men obviously share a secret, that may as well be Morse Code to the dim-witted DA, because they stare at each other eye-to-eye for a few seconds, giving each other a secret message, and then Bo says, "yeah, I saw it." Danny, (who, as the Almighty District Attorney, refuses to be dismissed by his lowly servants), barks at John that he's the suspect, he doesn't get to ask any questions. Bo, after a few more seconds of silence, tells John that they have to do it. John says he knows, and Bo commands his officers to place John under arrest.
(Frankly, folks, I think Bo used the booking procedure to rescue John from The Weasel. He was annoying the heck out of me as a viewer!)
As John begins to empty his pockets, The Weasel slips off to call his "source" and command him to shut down Ultraviolet..tonight! Then he calls Riley, to inform him that he's running late, but is on his way. Natalie returns to see John surrendering his hardware and badge, and she screams out that she's getting him a lawyer. John tries to stop her, but hell hath no fury like a red-headed Buchanan! We are forced to watch as John gets fingerprinted and photographed.
(If only he could turn into Caleb and bite the Weasel in the neck! Hee Hee!)
As John sits in his cell, we flash to Antonio. He is on the phone, thanking the other party for something. He hangs up and races into Bo's office. Phillips car was spotted at a hotel parking lot near Route 42. Bo says: "Go! GET! Keep me posted." Thanks, Commish, he replies, before bolting out the door. Later, Antonio calls Bo back...Phillips is dead. Time to get to the bottom of this! Natalie manages to convince Evangeline to take John's case, despite the stubborn way John refused an attorney, and despite the cost. Later, Evangeline meets John in his cell, and the defense begins.
(Okay, folks, here's the secret that the D.A. missed! Gary Phillips was obviously hypnotized into the false confession, because he had the same look in his eyes that Jessica did when Haver got to her! Get a clue, Danny!)
And now, the next best part of the journey......
