Fan Recap for One Life to Live

By Katherine Thurston, About.com

Starr has bruised lip because she beat up two kids who said her dad is a dirty rapist and is going to jail where he belongs. She tells Blair that her split lip is Blair's fault because she lied about Todd. Blair won't take the blame, but she holds her daughter close. She wants Starr to understand that crimes should be punished, but Starr doesn't see why Todd should go to jail. Why can't Blair fight with him on her own time? Blair says she's doing what she thinks is right. She tells Starr that it will be over soon. Starr agrees in a different way, "Yeah . . . when Dad gets back and we're all a family again."

John always thought Caitlin's death occurred during a botched robbery, but he feels guilty when he realizes the serial killer murdered her. Back when he was investigating The White Rose murders, he publicly antagonized the killer at a press conference. She would still be alive if he hadn't done that.

Drugged and dressed like a hippie (haha), Rae pleads with the killer. She sees a twirling ballerina in a music box on the floor. She tells him he's a coward because he preys on innocent women who can't defend themselves.

After all these years, Evangeline brings Marty Saybrooke to Todd. He doesn't think Marty can help him. Evangeline tells him she has few choices since he won't let her discredit Blair, and he has a bad reputation, so a former victim on his side will look good for his case. However, Todd thinks Marty will only make things worse. Marty asks to speak with Todd alone, but he tells her to go home. She says she's no longer the girl he raped all those years ago.

Jess tells Nat that Dr. Haver thinks John might be obsessed with the case. As they speak, Nat gets a call. "Natalie, I hope I didn't hurt your lovely neck. Please understand I was just making sure Agent McBain understood something. But don't worry--you and I will get together again soon. I'm looking forward to spending time with you and your lovely sister."

John has someone enlarge photos of The White Rose press conference. He believes he'll see the killer's face. Bo and John visit Nat, and she writes everything the killer said. Because of the ideas that Haver has put in Jessica's head, she feels intimidated when John tells her loudly, "This is why I don't want you involved in this case. It isn't a game!"

Marty says Todd isn't acting any more grown up than he was years ago, but she knows he saved her life a couple of times. "So, you're a psychiatrist now. Are you here to analyze me?" he asks. She says maybe she can help him, but he doesn't know why she would want to. She tells him she knows how hard he worked to change, but she also knows he could never convince himself that he still wasn't a rapist at heart. He interrupts her, but she asks him to listen. "Your guilt changed you. It shaped who you are," she says. He tells her he's not the same monster who raped her. He loves his wife and kids. She agrees, but she wants to know what the rape charge is all about. He explains that he tricked Blair with his Walker persona, and she's trying to get revenge now.

Jess sneaks to the police station and finds the photos that John had enlarged. Later, when John and Bo look at the pictures, they see Haver's face. Bo thinks the man is disguised too much to definitely be Haver, but he puts out a warrant. John thinks they should have suspected him earlier because Haver had contact with Troy, he works on campus where some murders took place, and he has contact with police files. They worry that he has Rae.

Rae screams for the killer to show himself! With a loud bang through the door and bright shining lights, Dr. Haver appears while she looks like a deer in headlights. "Hello, Rae. Pay no more attention to the man behind the curtain," he says with a wicked smile.

Nora takes Daniel to lunch so he's out of Bo's way. Daniel asks why everyone hates him. She says he seems to treat people more like dogs. She apologizes for being blunt, but she wouldn't have said anything if she didn't think he could stop--like he stopped drinking. She smiles and grabs his hand. Across the room, Lindsay says to RJ, "Does she need to have EVERY man I've been involved with?"

Like a crazy man, Haver excitably tells Rae to make her day extraordinary if this truly is her last day. She believes she knows too much for him to let her live. She asks if he dressed her like a hippie because his mother was a hippie, but he doesn't even know his reason for doing it. It's almost like the notion just dawns on him when she says it.

John and Bo arrive at Haver's, but he's either not home or not answering the door. They make casts of footprints outside, and they worry about Rae. John tells Bo he doesn't care what anyone else says. "This is not a mistake."
