MANNING MANOR MADNESS!!
David and Addie are engaged in a comically unfair game of Scrabble. The words "crazy" and "tan" are intersected, and David brags that he's won. Addie innocently tells him that his word says crazy, and he's not supposed to say that. He's supposed to say "mentally disturbed person." David snidely tells her that he didn't have enough letters. Enter Viki and Starr. Starr is grumbling about having to scrape "bird-stuff" off of the Angel Square statue as one of her community service assignments. Addie tells her that it's a beautiful statue, but Starr grumbles that it's still birdstuff...just because she accidentally help Troy escape. Viki gently reminds her that she could have gone into a juvenile facility instead, but the judge gave her community service so that she could prove that she truly regrets her actions.
But I don't regret it! I was just trying to set my dad free, because he's innocent! I do feel badly about what happened to Matthew. Have you TOLD Matthew that? Viki asks. Starr takes the hint and decides to call Matthew. Viki provides her with Nora's cell phone number.
Back to the precinct. Nora and Bo are happily greeting Matthew and he immediately asks for Troy. They stiffen a bit, then tell him that Troy isn't there but they need to have a chat with him. He must know that he isn't to do anything that Starr or anyone tells him to do if it's wrong. Matthew concurs, and Nora's cell phone rings. She takes Starr's call, and is a bit stand-offish with her until she mentions that she wants to apologize to Matt. She hands the phone to Matthew, and the two adorable kids exchange the most mature apologies I've ever heard.
(Hold on..I'm dabbing tears...Okay, I'm done. Let's move on.
Flash back to the Manning Manor... David has been outsmarted by Addie, with Viki's help, and she is now the victor in Scrabble. The word is charlatans. Addie wants to know what that means, and Viki tells her to ask David..he'd know better than them all...David sarcastically tells her it was nice seeing her again, and retreats into the foyer. He calls Dorian on the cell phone, and leaves her a message to call back soon...(there's a loud cackling of laughter emerging from the other room)...because the inmates are taking over the asylum.
Back in the family room, Viki asks Starr how she feels now that she's called Matthew. Starr admits that she feels better, and engulfs her aunt in a warm hug. Viki returns the gesture, then asks how Blair is, and where is she by the way? Addie proudly replies that Blair is at work. Work?! Viki says, At THE SUN???
Starr is baffled by her aunt's panicked response and says, What's wrong with that?
That's where your daddy went!
Todd is sitting at Blair's desk in The Sun, reading the headline coverage of the rape trial. Blair's angry voice resounds across the room...What the hell are you doing in my office! Oh, never mind. I already know. You're here to reel over the paper's cover story, but she won't let him do that to her newspaper. He softly and humbly tells her that technically, the newspaper is Starr's. He made it provisions for her and Viki to run it until Starr was of age. When he was Walker Lawrence, all of Lawrence's shares as well as his original shares reverted back to him. Well, BULLY FOR YOU, Todd! He quickly tells her that none of that matters..he just wanted to come back to work. Well, WELCOME BACK! I quit!
You can't quit. You're the editor-in-chief. Not anymore. I'll pay you double.
You just don't get it, do you, Todd? I can't stand being in the same room with you! Being all up in my face...making me do things..
Like what, lie? Accuse me of a crime I didn't commit? She pauses for a minute, then walks away.
Back at the Manor...
David and River have a mini exchange. David notices that the dark brooding grandson has suddenly become super-peppy, and carrying half of the refrigerator contents aroound to boot. What gives. Weelll, River pretty much tells him to mind his own business and goes on his merry way. Blair returns home to find Dave in the foyer, and she's disgusted. She races past him and happily greets her mom and child.
