Thank goodness this show is over. I was tormented as a kid and forced to watch this crap. I couldnt even watch my favorite cartoons cause my mom always had to watch her “stories”. So long and good riddens!

***** ATTENTION: SOAP FANS *****
We need to take action to save All My Children and One Life to Live!!! We need our voices to be heard.
Go to this website http://soapfansunite.webs.com and join in the protest of these ridiculous cancellations! Go to the rallies, call the sponsors, write letters and boycott ABC (except for our soaps). We need to make it quite clear to the network that we WILL NOT watch any replacements if they go through with these soap cancellations.
We will not let our stories go without a fight!

(5) Edna says:

If ABC takes off All My Children, and One Life To Live, I will boycott ABC and will not watch any shows, and will put the word out to all I know and don’t know. This is why I will not watch some shows, they take the good and give the ugly!!!! Shame on ABC for doing this!!!! I am upset!!!!!

No, I will not watch those shows ever.

I agree this is so wrong taking a way of life away from older people ,mothers ,disabled and others .

April 24, 2011 at 11:58 am
(8) thorswitch says:

For the last several years, ABC just hasn’t been coming up with very many shows I actually like, so I barely watch them as it is. The ONLY times I’ve wound up trying some of their shows has been when I’ve seen promos for them during OLTL and thought the new show looked interesting enough to at least check out. Of course, in all three cases, the show got canned at the end of – and in one case before – the end of their first season.

April 25, 2011 at 12:40 am
(9) John and Natalie Forever says:

I as an avid viewer of OLTL for the last 15 years am appalled at the fact that ABC does not care about its viewers. ABC need to be aware that if OLTL goes off the air as planned in Jan of 2012, I will not watch an programming from ABC, and I will tell everyone I know to do the same.

They are not looking at ratings at all and that makes me sick. Toi think that they don’t even care about ratings, but I guess, rating don’t count.

April 26, 2011 at 1:40 am
(10) JOYCE says:

I agree with All of you.. I will not watch ABC ’s new replacement shows either. i don’t watch the VIEW, i HATe that show. CANCEL The View ABC….instead of my soaps…

July 25, 2011 at 12:07 am

I rarely watch ABC except for the soaps. I havent watched ABC since, Screw ABC!

(12) franky j says:

I’m so happy this show is gone. I was tormented for years by this show cause my girl would watch it everyday and it would bug the crap out of me.

April 27, 2011 at 9:54 am
(13) Lisa says:

YES! Cancel the view instead of our soaps, the view is simply very annoying to watch with a bunch of women talking at the same time!

April 27, 2011 at 12:03 pm
(14) Marsha says:

I’m not surprised this has happened and you know what really gets me about this that they make all the actors and writers from AMC to move out to California while there familes are all here to keep it going and then fired them. This network is really —— up! Fill in your own letters.

Disney did care about people but, not these people in charge. Will not be watching any of your shows anymore even the ones on cable. Take away a little enjoyment of the old and elderly and teens too. You’ll reach that age and I really feel sorry for you. It will come back to you what ever you do to people. Take care!

April 29, 2011 at 12:20 pm
(15) CINDY says:

I HAVE A LOT OF TIME AND ENJOYMENT WATCHING ALL MY CHILDREN AND ONE LIFE TO LIVE,ALSO AT NIGHT PRIME TIME.SINCE THE NOTICE OF CANCELLATION I WATCH ONLY THREE SOAPS ON ABC.THIS WILL CONTINUE NO SEASON ENDING ON PRIME TIME OR ANYTHING ELSE.I WON’T BE GIVING THIS UP IN A LITTLE WHILE EITHER!!!

April 29, 2011 at 1:43 pm
(16) Jeannie51 says:

WHO CARES ABOUT A ROYAL WEDDING I SURE DONT-WHO CARES ABOUT A NEW COOKING AND TALK SHOW -I DONT-WHO WATCHES DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES-YEA RIGHT -NOT ME-DO I CARE WHAT ABC PLANS-YES IF THEY WANT PPL TO KEEP WATCHEN THEIR STATION THEN KEEP ON THE SOAPS—I AM SO SICK OF THESE REALITY AND FOOD SHOWS I CAN THROW UP.

May 1, 2011 at 4:03 am
(17) Sherrill says:

Does ABC combine Soap Opera network ratings with their ratings. All my children, One Life to live, and General Hospital are played at least three times to four times after they have played on ABC. So people must be watching them. Save Our Shows Please. I have watched these shows since the early 70’s.

May 1, 2011 at 10:34 am
(18) Terri W. says:

The ONLY ratings that count are during the first daytime airing. That’s why so many people who aren’t home and were watching only on SoapNet, Hulu, You Tube, etc. have been blindsided to discover they were not counted as viewers and have begun DVR/Tivo-ing during the daytime. ABC has already lost me as a viewer for everything other than OLTL. I haven’t watched Desperate Houswives, Body of Proof, Dancing with the Stars or Castle since the annoucement of the cancellation of my soap. But, for anyone who is interested, Masterpiece Classic on PBS has been showing some wonderful programs on Sunday nights! Check it out! ;)

May 12, 2011 at 5:05 pm
(19) Alex says:

I agree. I DVR these shows. I would never DVR another cooking, talk, exercise or how to show. There’s already too many to choose from. How many times can they discuss yet another way to ‘make lasagna’ and then tell us how to loose the pounds from the lasagna or tell us how to dress to hide it. lol

Even the competition shows, like Dancing with the Stars is getting tiresome.

Everyone of these types of shows reinforce a belief that we aren’t yet good enough and they’re happy to help.
Ah, no thanks.

With this decision they have lost program diversity. Boring.

I just want to be entertained by TV. I too DVR Masterpiece Classics and the likes of other channels and enjoy them immensely.

May 13, 2011 at 9:04 am
(20) Terri W. says:

Absolutely right, Alex. All of these shows ARE showing their age and over-saturation on TV. The funny thing is, I had become so accustomed to watching my usual DWTS, Desp. Housewives, etc. and thought it would be a lot harder to go without than it actually WAS. I began watching the Masterpiece Classics and reading books all over again and I can honestly say, I don’t miss ABC at all! I will tune in for my OLTL—Roger Howarth returns today, YAY—but I’m so disgusted by how they’re treating the soaps and the soaps’ loyal fans, I can’t stomach anything else about ABC these days.

May 1, 2011 at 2:20 pm
(21) Memyself says:

Why keep GH? so that when kids are out of school they can watch all the gang, killing, dwi, fights and sex with everyone except their spouse is all ok.
OLTL is at least airing TRUE LIFE ISSUES,shane being bullied HELLO that happens a lot, they at least address real life issues,,IF they take these away I’m afraid that network will fold.
I use to watch these with my grandmother and am one myself now, what a shame it’ll be to end that and for what MORE talk or cooking shows, how many are really going to tivo, drv or rush home to watch more of these?
WAKE UP ABC!!!!!

May 1, 2011 at 5:28 pm
(22) Terri W. says:

I agree, MeMyself! People were bashing OLTL for the Kish storyline because two grown men displayed affection for each other (another REAL-LIFE issue) and they didn’t want their kids seeing that, but it’s okay for GH to have Michael raped by a prison inmate??? That’s just ludicrous! I quit watching GH, which I’ve also called the One Trick Pony, because everything these days seems to end with gunshots, explosions, fires, or Sonny has another new KID! They go for the typical big bang instead of the romance, fun and real issues, all of which is making OLTL heads above the rest! Remember when soaps were FUN to watch? Yeah, me, too. And so does OLTL!

And I’m also wondering just how hard up Mario Batali and Tim Gunn are for money or work by taking on these “new” (actually more like “been there-done that”) shows that are supposed to replace our soaps. If I was either one of them, I wouldn’t have touched those shows with a ten foot pole, knowing how negative the reaction would be. I would only want to involve myself in positive ventures that I knew people would be looking forward to. Instead, they’ve agreed to become two of the most-hated men in daytime television, hopefully with an audience so small, it doesn’t even REGISTER on the ratings scale.

May 1, 2011 at 8:06 pm
(23) Norma says:

The studio is not counting the tons of people who work during the day or have school whether high school or college & they watch it on Soap Net at night, DVR/Tivo it, or watch it online & see it in the evening or on the weekends.

May 1, 2011 at 9:46 pm
(24) sandra says:

I HAVE BEEN A FAN OF ALL MY CHILDREN SINCE THE VERY FIRST DAY IT CAME ON AND I HAVE BEEN WATCHING ONE LIFE TO LIVE JUST AS LONG I HAVE A LOT OF FRIENDS WHO WATCH THESE SOAPS TO AND WE WILL NOT SUPPORT ANY OTHER SHOW IN PLACE OF OUR SOAPS PLEASE DO NOT TAKE AWAY SOAPS WE FEEL LIKE THESE PEOPLE OUR LIKE FAMILY AND FRIENDS THINK ABOUT THE FANS. WE SHOULD COUNT FOR SOMETHING WHAT WOULD LIFE BE LIKE WITHOUT ERICA OR VICKI IN THEM WE NEED OUR SOAPS PLEASE DON’T TAKE THEM OFF

May 1, 2011 at 10:34 pm
(25) sandra divers says:

2 am going 2 not watch any show on abc cant bleve they r going 2 take way our soaps 4 some dum cookng show and thenan exercise show so in other words they want us 2 cook from 1 to2 and from 3 to 4 xercise makes a whole lot a sense i hope they go completly brokke within 2 months

May 2, 2011 at 5:27 pm
(26) Terri W. says:

LOL! I never thought of it that way! Yeah, make a ton of food and now you’ll need to lose that weight. Sorry, but just like the other people on here stated, when I want to watch cooking shows, I have Food Network, Cooking Channel and the Green Channel. And do we NEED another weight-loss program? I think most women know what they need to do to lose weight and stay healthy. That advice is on SO many programs and channels PLUS it’s plastered all over womens’ magazines. These days, it’s the SOAPS that are unique and one-of-a-kind.

(27) dawn wernli says:

the only reason I turn on my tv at 2pm is to watch “OLTL”….I’m going to miss this show and these great actors !!!!

June 9, 2011 at 10:33 pm
(28) Linda says:

I am so sad about OLTL and AMC going away. I have been watching these soaps since I was really little. I started watching with my grandmother. I’ve been hooked ever since and can’t even fatham not getting to watch them anymore. Please re-consider and don’t take them off the air. How can abc take them off when so many people are fighting to keep them, along with boycotting abc?

May 3, 2011 at 10:28 am
(29) Terri W. says:

I wanted to add something I considered interesting to this conversation. I belong to a TV Guide panel where you choose what you will be watching from the new programs airing every night on TV. Almost 400 people, myself included, have indicated they would be watching Glee tonight. Only 87 people so far chose its opposition, “Biggest Loser”, as their program of choice. So, apparently, watching people lose weight is not exactly preferred viewing for the majority of people. A scripted fictional show that is fun and entertaining, however, IS. May this also be reflected in the daytime programming!

May 4, 2011 at 2:12 pm
(30) Mary says:

Do something about it!! Make your voice heard. Fight for
our Soaps by joining the Facebook group who is organizing protests and email campaigns – Fans United Against ABC

May 5, 2011 at 11:12 am
(31) Terri W. says:

@Mary: I HAVE been participating. I feel that you can’t complain about the cancellations if you aren’t at least TRYING to make a difference. Apathy is another reason so many good things are becoming today’s “8-track tapes”!

May 4, 2011 at 6:49 pm
(32) anne says:

yes, Abc will loose me and my entire family from watching anything on their network. Cancel the veiw… Those ladies are so boring!!!! Keep One Life to Live going… Everybody loves One Life to live!!!!! Listen to your viewers ABC!!! Or you will haveno VIEWERS AT ALL!!!!

May 5, 2011 at 3:48 pm
(33) Terri W. says:

Have you heard the latest? Katie Couric is in talks with ABC for a new talk show. Could this mean “curtains” now for GH, too??? :(

May 9, 2011 at 2:09 pm
(34) sadie soaper says:

***** ATTENTION: SOAP FANS *****
We need to take action to save All My Children and One Life to Live!!! ABC and Disney probably aren’t reading these comments, so we need our voices to be heard elsewhere.

May 10, 2011 at 5:17 pm
(35) amber says:

I have been watching these soaps my entire life with my mom and gradma and now my daughter watches them. I am so upset and I really hope abc sees how many people they will be loseing from watching their network altogether. I also want to know why the soap stars were not at stagecoach in california this year? First they say they are takeing our soaps off the air then they don’t even have them at the festival for the last time……

May 11, 2011 at 12:37 pm
(36) Tristan Lawksley says:

If General Hospital is canceled under any circumstances I will permanently boycott ABC and Disney. I will not watch any shows on ABC regardless of what they are, I will not pay to watch Disney movies in theaters nor will I purchase Disney movies — regardless of what they are. I will also use my purchasing power to boycott products and companies which support ABC and Disney.

This is not an idle threat…

If GH goes, I go. It doesn’t matter what they replace it with. Talk shows, game shows, reality shows… they’re all the same. If they take my hour of GH away, I’ll take 50+ years I’ve got left of support from them.

May 12, 2011 at 4:32 pm
(37) Alex says:

Fron is sadly mistaken if the belief is that we want or need another yammery talk show, self help, improvement or product show. There is already a plethera of choices in those departments. Sometimes, just sometimes, it is as simple as us relaxing for the pure purpose of just plain and simply being entertained.

Isn’t it still the ‘entertainment’ industry?

Funny, entertainment is about creative expression for others to enjoy. We have enough of the others; news, 1/2 hr. 1 hr. news specials about the news, fix it, fix you, get this, do this, and gossip shows about everybody and their uncles’ business.

I and many others are all set with being bombarded with what the television gods think we need or want. We’re telling you and you aren’t listening. I and many others have no problem what so ever no longer tuning in or even buying advertised products.
Sorry guys, I just wanted to be entertained for a bit with the delicious fictitious worlds. Bye.

(38) Bobbie Kimball says:

the hot sheet won’t let me leave messages..the boards are all screwed up. maybe this won’t work either no no no i I WONT WATCH OR SUPORTE THE NEW SHOWS.

(39) Bobbie Kimball says:

why isn’t my message being posted.the boards are really messed up even…the hotsheet. whats up

May 26, 2011 at 1:17 pm
(40) Betty Dunn says:

To be honest, I can understand why OLTL is being taken off. The story line has been declining for the last year. How long can someone watch Jess, Tess, Bess and Wes? Or, Vicki, Nicki and Jean. Boring. Tomas picked up the story line a bit but sorry to say , not enough. Good ridence to those who’ve been killed off or left. Are there enough soaps out there to pick up all of these people?

May 29, 2011 at 7:24 am
(41) Marty R says:

Business is business and many a prime time show has been cancled that I was a fan of. What I hope is that another network will pick up our soaps, if we are so lucky we need to follow and make that network happy they did!
I came to watch ABC via OLTL, it’s how I got to morning news, evening news and late night, even though I am main soap watcher in house, family watches the news I turn on so the network that picks up OLTL will gain more viewers in our household! I can only hope the casts are willing to make this change, as we have not heard from them, perhaps they think the time has come for the end ??
will enjoy this summer/fall either way!

August 5, 2011 at 10:20 pm
(42) Rachel C says:

Absolutely not! And it is in EXTREMELY poor taste that they are advertising for the garbage they are replacing the soaps with DURING the very shows they’ve canceled. I think some execs need to read How To Win Friends And Influence People because they are failing miserably in both departments.

August 5, 2011 at 10:29 pm
(43) Shannon Cummings says:

I love AMC and OLTL soaps…. I WILL NOT WATCH “THE CHEW” ON TV. THE CHEW LOOK IDIOT. I WISH AMC and OLTL STAY ON ABC TV.

August 5, 2011 at 11:23 pm
(44) Joyce Fenner says:

No way thought the reasons you cancel our soaps is a joke. You are tightwads and do not care about the fans, then you gave us hell on selling your rights to the soaps that you are no longer interested in. Then you hired Brain Frons to do your dirty work and he is cruel man he laughed at us and said we were lazy and would give up easy ,what can say except you suck ABC.

August 5, 2011 at 11:37 pm
(45) Anne Solano says:

I am not interested in another talk show on ABC. There are
too many of them already. AMC and OLTL are the two best soaps on TV. Disney and ABC will definitely lose me as a
viewer. The View is very, very annoying. NBC has better
programs.

August 6, 2011 at 12:23 am
(46) Elaine Cology says:

The last thing any of us need is another talk and cooking show. There are so many on already. You can turn on the tv anytime of day and see the same thing. Nothing new or uniique there. I have always planned my time around my favorite soap or watched it later. That certainly won’t be the case with the Chew. Who cares? Will I watch it? No and Hell No!

August 6, 2011 at 1:36 am
(47) raphael says:

ABC has lost me as a viewer I only watch ny favorite SOAPS n then its back to The CW or FOX. I have started boycotting since the announcement of the cancellation if All My Children & One Life To Live. Along with my family & friends and my fellow SOAP Fans. These shows are irreplaceable and the chew n revolution are not even worth watching the commercial’s. I’ve seen better infomercials.

August 6, 2011 at 9:26 am
(48) Michelle says:

I record all 3 soaps every day, other than that I haven’t watched ABC since April.

August 6, 2011 at 4:35 pm
(49) emtk says:

ABC is clearly self-destructing. They are making one stupid decision after another. I have been boycotting ABC since they cancelled One Life to Live and All My Children, but, quite frankly, ABC’s programming looks cheap and uninteresting. I wouldn’t watch it even if I wasn’t boycotting them.

August 6, 2011 at 6:06 pm
(50) susan goodman says:

I will never watch abc again like brian frons say i guess people who watch soaps are dumb and lazy! well mr frons chew on this talk shows are a dime a dozen and i will be watching days of our lives when the chew comes on. Bye abc

August 17, 2011 at 7:10 pm
(51) Clingon says:

The Only Daytime tv show i will watch on ABC when AMC & OLTL end is General Hospital.

Stupid move ABC!

December 2, 2011 at 1:13 am
(52) Marcus Hicks says:

I’m glad this show is gone. I was tormented for years by this show cause my girl would watch it everyday and it would bug the crap out of me.

December 2, 2011 at 1:16 am
(53) frank says:

Hey why’d you do that!!!

December 7, 2011 at 5:26 pm
(54) Sheila Staab says:

I grew up watching OLTL with my mother, and my grandmother. I don’t watch much tv for lack of time, but I tivo OLTL and watch it when I get home while I am working out. There are no other ABC shows(at any time of day) that I watch, and don’t plan on any new ones. Am I the only one that looked up ratings, it seems to me that THE CHEW has lower ratings than any of the soaps. I own 2 businesses, and that does not seem to be a wise choice ABC!!!

December 15, 2011 at 6:27 am
(55) Judy says:

I also watched OLTL & GH after school and I still watch it many years later…I love the shows. We need someone like Oprah to help…maybe they could air OLTL on her channel – what a great idea!

December 23, 2011 at 10:15 pm
(56) Jerrilyn says:

I won’t be watching anything they put in place of my favorite soaps. (AMC & OLTL). Getting sick of fashion, design, cooking, and talk shows. Seems that’s the only thing on TV anymore.

January 2, 2012 at 12:33 am
(57) tammy says:

I am OUTRAGED that my soaps are going off hte air … I have been a viewer for 30 + years , this is absolutely discussting that you are taking them away from us … Discussting ! … I cannot believe you have replaced our soaps with some nonsense like ” The Chew ” … wow ABC … Get REAL ! I for one will no longer be watching a single show aired on ABC .. ABC will be NOT allowed to be viewed at all in my home … the same for MANY of my friends and family also .
