Great News OLTL Fans!

One of Llanview's fan-favorites and the first Todd Manning, Roger Howarth, is returning to One Life to Live. But don't fret too fast Trevor St. John fans, this does not necessarily mean Howarth is returning as his former character. There has been no word on how his character will return or who he will be playing.  However, OLTL has recently explored Todd and Blair's past with the storyline involving an old wedding photo and its connection to Tea's brother, Tomas. But as fans know soap opera storylines can take many twists and turns, and they usually play out in something unexpected.  Howarth's return comes after many months of speculation beginning shortly after the cancellation of As The World Turns last year. "We are thrilled to have Roger return to One Life to Live," says OLTL's Executive Producer Frank Valentini. "As OLTL viewers know, Trevor St. John has been playing the role of Todd Manning since 2003. We have a great story planned that will involve both actors." So it's anybody's guess at this point on how this will all play out with both of these talented actors.

Howarth, who will turn 43 this September, originated the role of Todd Manning back in 1992 and won an Emmy for Outstanding Younger Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 1994 for his portrayal. The actor played the role of Todd on and off for nine years until his final departure in 2003. CBS quickly picked up Howarth for the role of Paul Ryan on ATWT, which he portrayed until the show's unfortunate demise in 2010. Howarth begins filming for OLTL in May and will be seen on air sometime this summer.

This announcement gives fans even more reason to smile after cancellation ramblings hit the Internet this past weekend claiming both AMC and OLTL were being cut for new daytime programming. But along with Howarth's return and ABC's announcement of a new head writer for All My Children, soap fans are certainly feeling more at ease.

Yeah! oltl thank you very much for bringing our 2 todd’s together. Welcome home howarth, you were missed but never forgotten. We love trvor as todd, but we’ve missed the original always. Hey let’s get it started, bring oltl back to life with both my favorites together. Joy is what we needed, so depressing on the show, trevor vacationing, he’s earned; glad he has some help now, thanks again. I hoped for a face-off with both our todd’s love always, yeah!

Great news? Really? Not so much, IMHO. How long will he stay this time? He never seems to stick around Llanview all that long. Hope this does not screw up TSJ as the REAL Todd Manning. I am just hoping that the writers give us a good and believable storyline.

I’m pretty sure that Trevor will be someone else. But the story iBut the story of Two Todds is supposed to start with a twist with an event and a twist that we will never forget and get more intense from there, according to the producer. Can’t wait.

WOW! Roger Howarth returning?! Now that’s music to my ears! He’s the best! I hope he stays for good this time. News of Roger’s return certainly made me smile this evening!

Welcome Back Roger..wink!

I love Roger I have missed him since he left! As far as I’m concernrd nobody can replace him! Welcome back Roger smiles.

(7) LJ says:

TSJ is the best Todd, and a great replacement. The old one was portrayed by RH creepy, scary and mean with no charm. Yeah RH originated the role, and he was great at it, but I can’t resist that extra somethin’ that TSJ brings to the role. I hope he stays being the real Todd.

(8) KimMe says:

I love Roger…loved him as Todd. Only thing I didn’t like was the way he would come and go. I have gotten used to the new Todd and at least he has stuck around.
But nobody could give evil looks like Roger, he always looked as if he was up to something. I am sure this storyline will be exciting…Bring it!

For me OLTL has never been the same without Howarth. No one can do the tortured soul better. Let’s hope the current crop of writers can deliver!

(11) Gail says:

Even if they say TSJ is Todd Manning, he never will be to me. His portrayal has no self-hate, no soul, no complexities. He is too cocky and un-rootable. Roger is the one who created this iconic character and will always be Todd to me.

And am I thrilled, TPTB finally got him to return?! Hell yeah! Thank you ABC for never giving up!!!!!!!

(12) Lakisha Scott says:

I am so completely with you. You described Odd almost to a T. Ohhh let me fill you in, I call TSJ Odd, because he’s such an odd ball compared to Todd, and he could never compare. I could never accept him as Todd, he’s too corny. Todd is no jokester, yet he has sarcastic humor. Not downing TSJ as an actor, just stating that he could never be Todd in my book. I am so ready to see Roger Howarth on my screen…

(13) okeefefan says:

This summer is going to be very very hot. Was missing Roger Howarth from the daytime arena and am so excited to see that ABC has lured him back to our screens!

I loved the photo shoot this pic was taken from when Roger was with ATWT! Definitely one of the hottest shoots ever done – thanks for using it!

April 7, 2011 at 10:33 am
(14) Lakisha Scott says:

I agree with everything that you said…except the photo…he has so many sexy photos, how can you choose the hottest??? =)))))))))).

(15) Ann says:

I came to know RH only after he joined ATWT – though of course I knew who he was – who didn’t back in the days he played Todd. I’ve had to catch up with the “old” Todd through YouTube. But since I have, I have been unable to WATCH OLTL when Trevor St. John’s version was on the screen. Todd, as played by Roger was a seriously twisted character who hated who he was and what he’d done, but could never quite overcome those things. (No wonder he needed breaks from the character.) He wasn’t some rich, smart mouthed kid who’d just made a mistake after drinking one too many, but a seriously damaged man. And Roger made both the danger and the vulnerabilty very real. I really hope that he comes back as the real Todd. Just from a practical point – how well has bringing back loved actors as different characters done for other shows? GH, anyone? Welcome back Roger. I hope TPTB do right by you.

April 7, 2011 at 10:11 am
(16) Lakisha Scott says:

I agree completely with you, and I am so glad you gave THE REAL TODD a chance, that is what other viewers should do before ragging on him. Roger created that role, and no one else could ever fill it in. I saw him from the beginning and fell in love with an awesome actor, He even had my hubby into soap operas, and he never liked soaps.

Same here – Todd was the reason my hubby started watching OLTL.

(18) Jillian Voss says:

I think TSJ plays the material given to him wonderfully. That said having seen Roger Howarth play Todd from inception, I must wholeheartedly agree with your assessment concerning how he played Todd and why he may have had to take so many breaks. With that kind of material, it must have been hard to detach.

Both TSJ and Roger Howarth are great though, I think the difference is the “Todd” that TSJ has been given to play.

April 27, 2011 at 2:55 am
(19) Jazmine says:

Every OLTL TSJ fan should do what you did and watch Roger from the beginning. I really hope all Roger’s “Todd”
fans come out of the woodwork and support Roger again. He lost a lot of fans changing his role, and OLTL lost a lot of viewers. I stayed with OLTL despite the new Todd, but also followed Roger to ATWT. I never have accepted TSJ as Todd because he doesn’t have that kind of depth that Roger brings. We loved to hate Todd and we loved to love Todd all at the same time because that’s what Roger made us do. I used to laugh at Roger’s Todd so much. Viewers really have to watch Roger’s old clips to know the difference and then like you they can’t deny what greatness Roger brings to Todd’s character. Roger needs to come back as Todd – they will make a mistake to bring him back as someone else. Roger = Todd :) I can’t wait to see how the ratings skyrocket when Roger airs on OLTL. They will be sorry they cancel the show – maybe they will change their mind – one can only dream right!

I am very excited at the news of Roger Howarth’s return. Hopefully he will be the real Todd, as he has always been the real Todd to me. He created the role and although TSJ took over the role and gave it his best, to those who have seen Roger Howarth portray of Todd, there could not be any replacement. Goodos to OLTL for getting this Emmy Winner back to Landview

I’m so excited that Roger “the real Todd Manning” is coming back to OLTL…No one portrayed the complexities of Todd like him…I’ve been searching constantly for confirmation that he is indeed coming back after seeing old pictures of him…If you want to keep me hooked on the show this is a great way to do it!

I was n high school when RH began the show. I remember when he learned that he was the son of VM and was sudenly rich. i remember when he and BK hooked up 4 the 1st time. I cried at their wedding. i was so happy when VB accepted todd as her brother. I hated his need 2 save Marty. But i boo hoo more bcus he felt responsible so much that he was willing 2 sacrafice his life. RH convinced me to feel 2 care and 2 anticipate. i miss those feelings. i look forward 2 his return and it better b as the originator.

(27) Terri W. says:

This is the BEST news I’ve heard in a long time and I am SO psyched to have one of my favorites, Roger Howarth, returning to my favorite show! “Ann” had it right on the money regarding the two different portrayals of Todd Manning. I love Trevor St, John, but his Todd has always come across as a spoiled, immature JERK, whereas Roger Howarth always had the brooding, dark quality of a man in pain, who had been deeply damaged by the abuse inflicted upon him at an early age. His pain was palpable. The one caveat here: if Roger is going to have scenes with this new kid playing Jack, then said kid had better UP his acting game in a MAJOR way. I would have relished watching the interaction between Carmen LoPorto (former Jack) and Roger! That would have been hilarious! The fact that Carmen resembles Roger would have made it even better. Welcome back to where you belong, Roger!!!

April 10, 2011 at 9:36 am
(28) Jillian Voss says:

I keep saying it-love both actors (TSJ and Roger Howarth) but I am so excited. How can we not love the real Todd!!!! I was compelled to write about your awesome comment about Jack upping his acting skills! Absolutely. Hopefully, that can be nipped in the bud or we can timewarp back and beg Carmen LoPorto to come back. This kid (sorry) is awful.

So happy that OLTL has brought back Roger. Let TSJ and Roger have some brilliant scenes together and the awesome games begin!

April 27, 2011 at 3:07 am
(29) Jazmine says:

I totally agree about the former Jack being great acting with Roger. I said that all the time while he was playing the part and couldn’t believe they replaced him. He was a perfect son of Todd! I wish they would bring him back to interact with Roger.

(30) susan says:

I liked RH as Todd untill he kept leaving the show. I also kept hearing how much RH didnt like the Todd character.
I finally got over him as Todd and enjoy TS just fine and just as soon he doesn’t leave oltl in exchange for RH
One can take only so much ship jumping before a Howarth doesn’t seem a big deal after all!
Now saying that, I believe RH isnt taking over the Todd character, more like we looking back at details from the past or possibly oltl is creating another character.

(32) truemanningfan says:

Meg, you don’t know what you’re talking about. RH is the REAL TODD MANNING! TSJ played Todd like a WIMP! RH brought an edge that has never been closely matched by TSJ. TSJ turned an amazing charater into some one who is more boring than paint drying on a wall. If you want to see the REAL TODD MANNING, then youtube the early Todd clips.

April 8, 2011 at 5:56 pm
(33) Terri W. says:

@Susan: I believe Roger Howarth was very upset with the direction in which the show was taking Todd. He wanted Todd to remain the tormented man he had always been instead of redeeming him and making him into a “hero”. I remember reading how much RH was shaken and disturbed by women shouting “Rape ME, Todd” at his public appearances to the point where he no longer wanted to participate in them. RH felt there was nothing at all heroic about Todd. I can only imagine that playing such a dark, anguished man day after day would take somewhat of a toll on a person. Maybe this is the reason he felt the need to “come and go”. I don’t know this for a fact, of course, but if he truly did not appreciate the show and the cast and crew, I doubt he would have come back at all. I, for one, am VERY happy to see Roger Howarth return. And if he DOES turn out to be the REAL Todd, I hope he kicks the OTHER Todd’s behind for pushing his daughter Starr down a flight of stairs while pregnant and for pulling a weapon on his two daughters and their boyfriends like some idiotic thug. lol

April 10, 2011 at 4:49 am
(34) MEG says:

Todd did not know Starr was knocked up by that creaton ,he did know Ramsay was threatening to kill his kids b/c he saved Gigi n Shanes’s lives when he tried to kill them .as for what happened at the cabin lives has to do with whoever has been threatening him on the phone ,whoever he keeps telling’I DO NOT WORK FOR YOU NOR DO I TAKE ORDERS FROM YOU”ANYWAY TSJ IS TODD ,WITH SUSAN FIRED AS MARTY WHY WOULD RH BE TODD,?HE IS NOT! AND IF HE WAS THEY HAVE LOST A FAN.

(36) Jillian Voss says:

I was in high school when Roger first came on the show. From my recollection (in meeting him) was that he had a young wife and child. No doubt some woman (or women) screaming such an awful thing would be disturbing. Even more disturbing would be if his wife and child were present. I agree with you and think he left out of personal preservation. How tough, it must have been for him to think the show and/or writers were trying to triviliaze his characters demons when all this craziness was going on. He played this anguished man everyday and knew that he (Todd) was not going to be changed so quickly. That would be a disservice to the character and the fans who watch.

Anyway, great comment!

High Five! Same here. I’ve watched the show when both Todds were on. Yes RH originated the role, and he was great. But something about TSJ, he just portray the role so brilliantly. I love how you and love and hate a character so much. I’m a sucker for charm. There are too many dark souls on OLTL (ie John), I don’t want another. RH was just too tormented for me. I started watching the show more with TSJ playing Todd. His character is intriguing. And I love him and Tea’s chemistry.

April 10, 2011 at 7:30 am
(41) Margie says:

TSj is a good actor, but he seem bored playing Todd for the last few years. His Todd has acted like a liitle punk, and not the badass, complex man that we knew. He doesn’t seem to remember that he was so sorry about raping Marty. His demeanor around her is mocking and disrespect. I hope that RH is Todd and returns to destroy him.

April 10, 2011 at 9:15 am
(42) Jessica M. says:

I couldn’t agree more, RH is irriplacable, no one can play Todd like he can, TSJ is way too soft for that part and just totally ruines that character of badass Todd, bring on RH, please!!

RH is awesome with KDP, let TSJ be with Tea.

April 10, 2011 at 9:23 am
(43) Jillian Voss says:

YES!!!!!! Both Roger Howarth and TSJ, is like a dream come true (soap opera style anyway)! I cannot believe our good luck. Thanks to both actors and OLTL for allowing this to happen, I cannot wait to see how this develops!!!

April 10, 2011 at 10:10 am
(44) Fanknitter says:

While I will be happy to see Howarth again, I will be extremely upset if they try to reinstate him as Todd. Yes, Howarth was great as a young tortured Todd, but St. John has taken us on the journey to a mature, somtimes still tortured, Todd that is slowly healing. I think St. John has brought much needed insight to the character and added another level to that character that was missing. I also think St. John has wonderful chemistry with every actor he’s on screen with. I hope tptb don’t screw this one up.

Off subject–they have already done a big disservice with Todd’s son, Jack. The actor is horrible and the bullying storyline, while timely, has been miserable. Now we have to watch Blair struggle with motherhood, please. Too bad they never reverse the aging process on these characters–maybe new Jack can take a trip to the attic one day?

May 10, 2011 at 11:33 pm
(45) LJ says:

Couldn’t say any better…well said. I appreciae the portrayal of TSJ’s Todd. It adds more layers to the character. I LOVE TSJ’s chemistry with Dani and the other characters. Bringing RH back as Todd will mess things up big time. TSJ plays a good lovable/hateable character. I hope they don’t screw what we got goin here. TSJ as Todd 4ever. LOL!

April 10, 2011 at 10:24 am
(46) Terri W. says:

@Meg: Not sure how long you’ve been watching OLTL, but I don’t see how you can say that TSJ has “surpassed” RH’s portrayal of Todd Manning, since RH is the reason Todd is ON the canvas in the first place. I’ve mentioned this before—-Todd Manning was only supposed to be on the show for a very SHORT stint. Due to the popularity of both the character AND (or BECAUSE of) RH, Todd remained on the canvas. If it wasn’t for RH, TSJ never would have had the character of TM to PLAY. As for the cabin incident with TSJ’s Todd pulling the gun on the kids, that had NOTHING to do with whoever is calling him. He knew it was his children and their boyfriends when he pointed the weapon at them. The fact that it wasn’t a REAL gun doesn’t matter if the person you’re pointing it at isn’t aware of it. It wouldn’t matter to the police either; they’d shoot you if you pointed a cap gun at THEM. RH’s Todd had real trouble with intimacy with women, too, due to what happened at the frat house with Marty. You never see that aspect with TSJ’s portrayal. I love TSJ, I’m not faulting him, but RH’s Todd will forever define that character for me and countless others.

April 10, 2011 at 10:27 am
(47) Terri W. says:

Too bad they never reverse the aging process on these characters–maybe new Jack can take a trip to the attic one day?

@Fanknitter: Maybe he can join Joe and Ruth’s son Bobby in THEIR attic?? That way he’ll finally have some company! Ha! Ha!

I am a huge RH fan. I started watching ATWT when Roger went there. The fact that he is coming back to One Life is the best news ever. I frankly don’t care if he plays Todd or a new character; I just want to be able to see him every day again. I’ve missed that. And I’m thrilled not to have to break in a new soap like I had to do with his last show. I’ve been watching One Life to Live since I was 13 years old, from the very first day it was on.

I am so pleased that Roger is retuning to OLTL. I enjoyed his portrayal of Paul Ryan in ATWTs, but this is where he belongs. I appreciate that Trevor has done a good job stepping into the role, but I think Roger deserves much of the credit for creating such a memorable and multi-faceted character. I can’t wait for his return!

(54) Wanda Brown says:

This is what I think: Roger is Tomas boss, and he told Tomas to gun down Todd; that is why he is in a coma state. He will wake up to Roger standing over him threatening his life. He says you are lucky to be alive;if I would of done this hit you’d be dead instead of coming out of a coma. Todd is still groggy at best. When Todd is released from the hospital; Roger will be in the shadows watchin his every move. This will be a show down between Roger and Todd for some of his dirty deeds that he did in the past.

April 10, 2011 at 3:12 pm
(55) Terri W. says:

@Jennifer: WHO is not “in the loop”? Everyone should be worried about the possible cancellations of the soaps. Not just OLTL fans, but fans of EVERY soap on every network. That is why we still need to be writing, calling, e-mailing, sending smoke signals—-whatever—-to the top guns at ABC and letting them know that we want our soaps to STAY right where they are. But, bringing Roger Howarth on only to allow them to wrap up OLTL for good? He is a wonderful actor and has always made a huge impact during his stints on the show, but even HE is not THAT important. If that was the case, they never would have been able to recast the role of Todd in the first place. You should read Carolyn Hinsey’s “It’s Only My Opinion” in the latest Soap Opera Digest. The points she makes about the cancellation rumors for ABC’s soaps are valid ones. One message to SoapNet-only viewers: if you want to raise your soap’s ratings, don’t watch it on SoapNet and watch them live or DVR them during the day. Apparently, the SoapNet viewings don’t count and when SoapNet goes off the air in 2012, our soaps should see at least SOME increase in their ratings.

How sad. Trevor’s an amazing actor and the reason I watch OLTL. Roger was ok, butTrevor brought something much more intense and mature to the Todd character and its a shame to see it go : (

April 10, 2011 at 6:38 pm
(57) susan says:

Sharon I agree.
TS took Todd in a different direction which happens a lot of times when a new actor takes over a role. I for one think TS is a better todd. One who has tried to change and mature, Trevors Todd has expressed his feelings more and is abel to speak of his love for tea and shows his feelings much more than RH did. tptb write the script and TS follows the script…the good, bad and the ugly.

Terry
I know RH apparently had strong feelings about the todd characters behavour, darkness and personal fall out from playing him..RH is an actor thats his job to act what has been written for him, he is supposed to be a professional. If he has a problem with it. he has no business being there.

As for RH kicking TS /Todds behind, he did not push Starr down the stairs any more than if RH his self had filmed the scene that day.
It was an accident during a struggle. The struggle should not have happened. Because of Todds mind set he strongly feels the need to protect Starr he trusts no male with her expects the worse, maybe from his part in the rape of Marty he sees and maybe expects someone like the old Todd to victimize his daughter. Todd looks at him self as a monster for what he did and will always have the knowledge of what he did to Marty inside .

I don’t always like what the writers do to Todd as well as other characters, but I respect TS for doing his job as an actor.

I liked Roger as Todd but he did keep leaving the show and returning. I don’t think he was ever comfortable in the role, and it showed. I have to admit, when the opening credits show, my old heart (and it IS old) skips a beat when I see Trevor in the opening credits. I like the way he plays Todd, and he and Tea just warm my heart. She loves Todd unconditionally. Blair and Todd were two damaged people who found solace in each other but who were toxic together. Their relationship became “how can I hurt him/her more than he/she has hurt me?” I wish people (including Marty) would forgive Todd, because he suffers from a huge guilt over what he did to Marty when he was an angry, abused college student. Glad Roger is back–but not to play Todd; both for his sake and mine. ;o)

@Susan: I’m aware that the actors—no matter WHO it is or WHAT character they’re playing—have to play what is in the script (for the most part anyway). My remark about RH’s Todd kicking the behind of TSJ’s Todd was a joke based on the fact that if RH WAS the REAL Todd, he would definitely kick the behind of an IMPOSTER who had pushed his daughter down stairs—accidentally or NOT—and held a gun on his daughters, as well. Also, even though they are actors and are paid to pretend to be these characters, some aspects are easier to shake off than others. There have been movie actors who have stated that they had a difficult time getting dark characters out of their heads when shooting was over and that was for a movie, whose filming is finite. On a soap, which continues all year long, indefinitely, I would imagine if you are playing a dark, tortured soul it CAN weigh on you after a while. (Especially so if you are an actor who gets deep inside the mentality of the role.) They may be actors, but they are also human and the brain does not differentiate between real and make-believe, especially when you add genuine emotion to it. I have stated I LIKE TSJ and do NOT want to see him go either. But, just as you said, he is an actor and if his “Todd” turns out to be an imposter, it’s his job to play THAT and I’m sure he’ll do a great job with it.

The show didn’t say TSJ was leaving. If bringing someone popular back to OLTL (and RH is popular with many longtime fans, some of whom followed him over to ATWT) could make loyal conitnuous fans HAPPY, bring old fans BACK and maybe bring in some NEW fans (perhaps the old ATWT fans who are now without a soap??) for the show, that’s a GOOD thing. It could help OLTL bounce back a little in the ratings. No one will have to argue over whether TSJ or RH is better if OLTL itself is GONE. I’m not being argumentative, I’m just trying to put this all in perspective.

I just hope they don’t screw this up the way they screwed up Andrea Evans’ return as Tina. Does anyone remember RH-Todd’s special relationship with CJ and Sarah?

April 12, 2011 at 3:18 pm
(69) Terri W. says:

I DO remember that, JP. That little girl with the brown hair who played Sarah was SO adorable and had such a sweet rapport with RH’s Todd. Whatever happened to the character of CJ? I can’t remember that one. I know what happened to Sarah, but where’s CJ? I miss Cord, too. And Max, too, now that I’m thinking about it! lol I always loved Andrea Evans’ Tina and wish she was back on the show, standing by Viki and sparring with David Vickers.

(71) Donna Marie Rogers says:

I’ve always been a huge fan of Roger Howarth, so the thought of having him back on OLTL is heady. But I also adore Trevor St. John, so I hope the plan is for Howarth to play a new character, perhaps a twin?

I remember reading that one of the reasons RH came and went so much was because he wasn’t always comfortable playing a rapist, especially when fans would shout things at fan events like, “Rape me, Todd!” If he comes back as a new character, there’s a better chance he’ll stick around permanently this time. :-)

April 13, 2011 at 5:25 pm
(72) Terri W. says:

Yes, Donna, he was also bothered by the show trying to “redeem” Todd and turn him into some kind of hero. RH felt that Todd was not any kind of hero at all, since a lot of what he did was for selfish reasons.

You make a good point about him possibly sticking around permanently if he played a new character. It would have to be a very well-conceived and well-written character though, since after playing someone as complex as Todd, you wouldn’t want to go backwards. :) I’m just happy to have him returning and happier still if TSJ also sticks around.

Well, both OLTL and AMC have been canceled. OLTL will end its run in January of 2012 and I will NEVER watch ABC again. Not during the day, not during the NIGHT. I am THAT furious and I mean EVERY word of it. There are too many alternatives these days and it is obvious that ABC does not CARE about it’s legendary shows nor for the fans who have devoted so many hours and years to watching these programs! I am so disgusted!!!!

(74) Dayna says:

I couldn’t agree w/ you more. That is a BS thing to do.I also think it’s an insult to keep GH.To me they have gone so far off track w/ that one. When I 1st started watching GH over 20 yrs ago it revolved around the hospital.I stopped watching when it became about everything else. Why would u bring someone back to OLTL then cancel the show it makes no sense unless they knew all along it would be cancelled and wanted to make it up to the fans. That isn’t gonna work at least not for me

April 14, 2011 at 5:47 pm
(75) Terri W. says:

I’m telling you, Dayna, that’s exactly what I think they did. They KNEW all along and LIED to the fans to keep us quiet until they could do their dirty work. Did you notice how when rumors would be leaked about the imminent cancellations, the denials would start FLYING around so fast it made your head spin. I watched all three ABC soaps from their inception, so obviously I’m not in the “coveted demographics”—I’m 51. I watched with my mom, watched through my own illness, the illnesses and deaths of my grandmother and both parents and it feels as if someone is ripping something out of me from the inside. I want to still be excited about storylines to come, but at the same time I’m thinking—what’s the point? It isn’t as if anyone cares anymore whether or not we like a storyline. What will happen? They’ll LOSE VIEWERS? It’s ending now, so that’s no longer a valid consideration. I also believe that ABC is continuing to lie to GH viewers, as well. Placating them for now so they can deal with the fallout from what they’re doing to AMC and OLTL. It’s unacceptable.

April 14, 2011 at 7:02 pm
(76) Donna Marie Rogers says:

My God, I’m just so depressed ovber this news…and shocked. :-( I know rumors had started swirling about a few months ago, but I wanted so bad to believe that no way would it actually happen. Like many of you, I’ve been watching both shows since from my mother’s knee (I’ll be 44 this year). She passed away last month, so this is just…more than I can stand. I’m with you, Terri, I’m done with ABC. This is such an incredible insult. Like we need more talk shows…sigh. Maybe there’s a support group out there for us. By the way, my mom’s name was also Terri (Teresa).

April 14, 2011 at 7:28 pm
(77) Terri W. says:

Donna, please let me give your my sincerest condolences on the loss of your mom and I’m honored to share her name, although I’m officially Terri and not a Teresa. I remember sitting with my mother in her last days, watching AMC and OLTL together. I, too, am feeling an overwhelming depression over this whole thing. I was writing e-mails, snail mail, making phone calls—thinking all the while that perhaps the fans could actually have an impact on the fate of our shows. I’m suspecting now that it was a “done deal” all the way back to the announcement that SoapNet would be ceasing operation in early 2012, since that is when OLTL will end. I am hoping though, that there COULD be a glimmer of light shining down that tunnel. There is a drive now to see if Oprah might be interested in picking these two shows up for her network. I saw a tweet today that stated 3 million viewers per show every DAY would make them the ratings hits of her network. Shall we PRAY??? :)

It took me awhile to get use to trevor after roger left but in no time did it take for me to love him and no time for me to miss roger as well. I think it’s wonderful that they are both going to be on and it will only get interesting on what is instored for the remaining of the programming. I’m also sadde ned that oltl and amc are being cancelled at the end of the year. I’ve been watching them both since the start of amc and have seen many people come and go on both and turn into movie and prime time stars.

(80) Donna Marie Rogers says:

Thank you, Terri. My mom was always more Terri than Teresa (except to her parents), and was known as little Terri since she was only 4′ 10″. She was a firecracker, though, and my biggest fan. I miss her terribly. She was only 63 years-old. :-(

I think it would be amazing if Oprah’s networked picked them up! I don’t want to get my hopes up, but stranger things have happened, so I’m keeping my fingers & toes all crossed. :-)

April 15, 2011 at 11:15 am
(81) Terri W. says:

I’m keeping everything cross-able crossed, trust me! :) I have been thinking all morning about what more we can do to try and fight back against this. Anyone have any other ideas that haven’t been tried yet??? We really all need to come together and show ABC our strength in numbers! Also, I want to take a moment to say to Katherine Thurston, who runs this site about OLTL, that my thoughts are with her, too. This cannot be easy news for her, having devoted so much of her time and energy to these boards and newsletters. I’ve kind of been caught up in my OWN feelings since the news hit, but wanted her to know that I am thinking about her, as well!

April 18, 2011 at 12:02 pm
(82) Lisa says:

I was thinking if we could get together and sign a petition of some sort. Everyone from each part of the country could pass a petition around, have other fans sign it, then deliver it to ABC studio… send emails or go to our local council office. even though local council’s are for community’s only. Maybe they could suggest something.. especialy if they are soap fans to. And by the way we are the community so why not try it. Let me know if this is a good idea..

thanks..

Just wondering if Roger comes back as Todd, will he be wearing that scar on his face still. I mean TSJ’s Todd had plastic surgery hence the scar being gone and the whole face is changed. Would the real Todd have had the plastic surgery sometime during all these years he’s been missing? I would think he might still have the scar.

I am very happy to see Roger return however Trevor has potrayed the hell out of the character that Roger created. To the point that if Roger is the real Todd it will sicken me. I hope that he is a long lost twin or someone who helped Todd out and took his face cause he needed a new identity. Whatever the case maybe I hope that Trevor is the real Todd. But I do need Roger to play that old Todd I wanna compare lol. I guess I don’t want Trevor who I loved sense the moment he started lauging at Mitch when he revealed himself as Todd (classic) to be a lie.But whatever the case I’ll watch till the end.(sigh) Why don’t soap net or another network pick OLTL up screw ABC somebody take this story if none else I will watch it . Shhhhh but i heard WWE is getting there own channel soaps with sport soaps great concept. Putting it out there Mr. Blue77 hoping for a OLTL MIRACLE we got to January lets get busy producers somebody will pick ya’ll up screw ABC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ONE

I’m sure he’s a good actor, however we all know ABC got fined numerous times for Howarth’s constant screw-ups with his F-bombs on live television. I’ve got my recorder ready to catch him again, lol.
